Well, chaps, I'm one model done, about to start the next (Bf109E).

I reckon I can slot in a Ju87 as well, and probably another Spit.

And MAYBE a Hurricane....!

Hurricane arrived in the post today.

It's the Airfix rag-wing version, but I'm 99% sure that the one in the box-art DID take part in the Battle - and what's more, it's still around!

Can anyone tell me but do the flaps on the 109 droop when the plane is stationary? Seem to recall reading somewhere they do this .

No they don't droop. They are linked mechanically and only go down by control. Only a bad pilot leaves the flaps down. Sometimes the slats would remain open and ground crew would push them shut.
When the flaps are put down the ailerons droop by approx 3 degrees also as they are inter-linked to do so to increase the flap effect.
Al speling misteaks aer all mi own werk..
Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

However, I believe, some 115s were brought down by the RAF during the Battle period whilst they were laying mines.

On the Allied side we shouldn't forget the venerable Shagbat; the Walrus, used for ASR
I wanted to include the Walrus in a wider build alongside this GB but all the info I can find suggests the Walrus was late to the battle or after it. Have I got it wrong?. Anyone know for sure?.
As far as I can find out no RAF squadron used the Walrus in ASR until about December 1941, but the FAA was using it in that role from 1935. I need to go to the library to look up a book on FAA squadrons to see if any were active with Walrus during the BoB. From personal stories/recollections [not 100% reliable] pilots talk about the relief of seeing the Shagbat and being picked up by it.

Lots of lovely work in this GB. I am just back from holiday in Nova Scotia and although I usually build at a glacial pace, is it too late to join in?
