Steve's No Great Hurri ** FINISHED**

Post by SteveC »

Hello All,

Having finally seen the back of the Stuka, I thought that I would make a start on this to even the odds. It's the Airfix old tooling of The Hurricane MkI, issued for the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, so a little bit late to the party (again) :) ;

A mere 28 parts ;

The story so far. Pilot Officer 'Will Power', because that's all he's got to fly the plane with (not even a joystick was harmed in the making of this model);

Hopefully the last of the major filling;

That's all for now.

Nice work Steve. Very smooth paintwork. Brushed or sprayed?

Thanks Nigel,

It was airbrushed using the Lifecolor RAF set. The reason I used them was because they seem to dry more like enamel paints and so unmasking the canopy was much easier.

When first applied, the dark green was very similar in shade to the dark earth, so it was quite difficult to see if it was actually spraying.

The interior green, red nose and tyres were Modelmaster and the landing gear legs Vallejo Model Air steel.

Steve

Wow! That was quick. I'm building this version with my son at the moment. Hope it looks half as good as yours.

Narayan,

Glad you liked it. It only has about 28 parts, less if you go wheels up.

The only real problem I had was that some of the decals seem too large for the actual model, notably the fuselage marking which is one big piece! You can see where they overlap at the base of the tail.

I'm sure that you and your son will produce a model to be proud of.

Steve

Didn't even notice you'd snuck this one in!

Very nice. I think it was this kit I was originally looking for when I thought about doing a Hurricane, but went for the rag-wing version instead.

Thank You Both.

A pretty uneventful build, especially considering what some of those around here can achieve in a month, so it just sort of 'sneaked in under the Radar - typically shabby N*** trick'.

Steve
