Another late arrival; Spitfire 1 DW-K; Has Arrived= Finished
I reckon I can get a Spitfire done in the time left.
A nice bright blue plastic.
Another modeller, on another forum has given me the DW-K decals for use on this.
Since taking those photos I've snipped all the parts off the sprues, assembled the wings and the fuselage halves, and the seat to the floor, prop to its back-plate.
And had an accident with it.
I was topping up my brush cleaning jar with cellulose thinners when I noticed some dribbling on the fuselage. I acted instinctively, I dabbed it with a cloth! Bad move, now I have to fix that area of the fusey.

Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

Welcome aboard,
Nice to see another Spitfire!
I hope you managed to repair the damage to the fuselage. Do you often dribble over your kits when making them ?
Regards,
Steve

Looking forward to seeing how you do with this one!
I do love the old-tool kit. It's so simple, but it does look great even in its basic form.

Must post an up-date. Its mostly together. Its a nice kit but I find the rear of the wing unit just doesn't fit the fuselage without a strong clamping.

This mostly together.
As it was this morning, needing fillers rubbed down. The green on the cowling is fine filler fixing the spill damage.
Wheel wells boxed in. More fillers.
All fillers now rubbed smooth.
I need to put on some sticky out bits then I can paint the underneath in 'duck egg blue'

Two coats of 'duck egg blue' on. I think it needs a third very thin coat as its a wee bit streaky in places;
Tomorrow [or later today rather] the top colours can go on.

Looking good, Fred. That rear join of the lower wing to the fuselage is a so and so to glue down, isn't it?

I think I've got a technique for it now.
Cut off the snap fittings. Put loads of glue on, clamp the sucker really tight, so tight that rear bit actually pushes into the fuselage, after a while, before the glue dries completely, release the clamp, the piece comes up to the correct level and there was so much glue the mating edges have all dissolved and makes its own filler.

Re: Another late arrival; Spitfire 1 DW-K
Yesterday evening and today, painting. That blue plastic is a strong colour to get covered.
I've been doing so many A schemes I can do them with my eyes shut. I had to find a schematic to follow for this B scheme, and it felt like I was trying to paint left handed upside down.
Time for gloss, then decals.
