Jeff's Seahawk***Finished***
In this space will go the Antares SC-1 Seahawk in 1/72. Also issued by SMER it has 55 parts in light gray plastic with a rather thickish canopy. Decals include two aircraft. Pictures to follow.

I was thinking of doing this but as you've got there first I'll pick something. Will look forward to seeing yours develop.jssel wrote:In this space will go the Antares SC-1 Seahawk in 1/72. Enjoyment over accuracy. That's my motto

Re: Jeff's Seahawk
So I had six nice pictures of parts before construction and after re-sizing they vanished from the folder. Windows 8: I wonder where they could be now, Read as what cloud and I on now. The pics were cut from the SD card and saved in my file for the SC-1 build. I re-sized and bango they are now MIA.
At any rate and as most kits of limited run status the interior is devoid of detail. So to work I go. I added rudder petals to the provided floor pegs.
Next I added stringers to the inside of the cockpit area.
Work on one wing. The landing light is a clear lens so I put down Bare Metal Foil in the interior and added the lens.
I can also add that all mating surfaces need rubbing down to remove burrs and flash. After that is done things match up pretty well.
My next step while things are setting up will be to assemble pieces with two halves.
But right now it is a beautiful day and I will be out in it. There are darn few days like this left in these parts.

I note, from the box art, that this kit has "56 tails". Man, that's going to be a weird-looking aircraft...

Today's update with all of the pieces in two halves assembled and some detail work for the cockpit. I used some scrap styrene and made up side panels. Another thing discovered is that the dimples on the main float that mark were holes are to drilled for the beaching gear do not match up with the pegs on the gear strut. Just a minor set back. 'Bout time to think of interior colors.

Re: Jeff's Seahawk
More cockpit work done now. I added a throttle quadrant and placards to the sidewalls. Next will be tape harnesses. Also dressing up the main pontoon with some stuff. Ideas from the Migrant's Kingfisher article.
So far so good. For a limited run kit I think it works. A chance to get some old school model building in.

Re: Jeff's Seahawk
The build progresses nicely so far. Just a bit of filler needed after a fair amount of fiddling with parts to get a fit.
A good deal of time has been spent to fit and align the main float. Lots of filing and sanding here. Not sure about how sturdy the float will be once attached. A possible remedy is to drill and place pegs in the float and maybe five minute epoxy to attach it to the fuselage. In between errands today hoping to have this sorted.

Main float is attached. Hope my theory works.
Tomorrow I will remove the filler and apply surface primer and check things out.
