Kit's got Mail ** Delivered**
Re: Kit's got Mail
What a beautiful job on that cockpit. Everything look tremendous.
Besting 60 years of mediocre building of average kits in the stand off scale

Thanks, it's pretty good for a limited run kit

Re: Kit's got Mail
Both of your kits are real challenges but will build into great-looking models. And that interior is outstanding (if that's not an oxymoron?)
Is this your sanderling?.

Re: Kit's got Mail
Thanks Arc. Meanings aren't opposite so not an oxy but close enough
Anyway after saying this was quite good for a limited run kit it decided to bite me.
Rear fuselage just didn't want to match up so a process of sanding then glue a bit and let it dry, then move on ensued. Finally got close enough. Then the wing shoulder was dry fitted. After a large amount of sanding and the usual choice words, glue could be applied and a lot of pressure. Then I test fitted the tail plane section. At this point the wall was becoming a tempting target for a premature test flight. Had to use a razor saw to remove enough plastic before sanding. Then it was sand, beer, sand, beer. So this is where it's at now.
As you can see, copious amounts of filler (and beer) will be required to blend it all in.

Re: Kit's got Mail
That is a shame. I am still thinking about this kit and this may just put me off.
Wonder if the rear fuselage bits had been added to the front parts before joining the fuselage would have helped any on the fit?

Re: Kit's got Mail
Hindsight told me that but that bit of extra work got it together and a coat of Mr Surfacer seems to have blended it in. You have to remember it's a limited run kit so it won't just fall together. I still think it's a good kit and would certainly get it again (if I had the room for it)

Re: Kit's got Mail
Coming together now, hopefully heading for the paintshop at the weekend
Almost threw away the backing card for the PE fret, then noticed it was a masking set for the clear parts.

calling this one done now, just a couple of things to do for completeness
One of three Be-12's sent to Egypt in 1968 by the Soviet Union to keep watch on the US 6th Fleet in the Mediterranean. Operated by the Black Sea Fleet, AV-MF, the Be-12's were given Egyptian markings but were still crewed by Soviets. Originally based at Cairo West, they were later moved to Mersa Matruh. They operated alongside Soviet Tu-16's and Il-38's until July 1972, when President Sadat severed ties with the USSR, and then returned to the Black Sea Fleet. (codes more than likely spurious)
Thanks to lancfan for putting me through this punishment
