When I built this, I painted the spinner by putting the prop assembly in an electric screwdriver. It was one of those where you control the speed by how much pressure you put on the trigger. I then just used a light pressure to get the prop assembly spinning but not too quickly and applied the paint. It was a bit awkward (I had to sit with the handle of the screwdriver between my legs) but it worked a dream.

Tamiya acrylic thinners is alcohol based and is not comparable with Humbrol acyilcs as they are water based.
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

Thought as much Splash. I use Tamiya with Xtracrylix too as they don't seem to clog as much than when using their own brand. I will give water a try, hopefully I won't get any pooling. Will keep the hairdryer close at hand.

Masked up and sprayed the RLM 72 following Splash's advice regarding thinning. Spurt / splatter and a rough finish on a .4 needle. Colour looks right though!Flatted it off with some 6000 grit micromesh. Once I did that It looked like a weathered finish over the raised detail. It wasn't what I was after but a reasonable effect all the same.I know these are Matt finish from the pot, I suppose I'm just used to the smooth finish Xtracrylix.
Watched a youtube demo on these paints. I will get some Humbrol acrylic thinners as it is supposed to retard drying and aid levelling. I have all the RLM colours and don't want to give up just yet.
Looks like I have a bit more to do on the upper fuselage seam.

Resprayed it with Xtracrylix Rlm72. Much better finish. Need to mask up for the 73 now and finish the canopy masking.

Coming along well, like the screwdriver trick. This is still a good kit despite its' age.

Main camo done, few touch ups to do. Masking non-existent frames now on the canopy. Not a great deal of difference between Rlm 72 +73 although a little more noticeable in the flesh.

Decaling disaster, the fuselage serials folded over on themselves and I couldn't recover them. Managed to get the cross and the C down . I don't suppose anyone has a spare set they don't need???
