Splash's Albatros on a stick **** Finished*****
To quote Monty Python "Albatros, albatros, get your bird on a stick here". "what flavour is it?" "It's bloody Sea Bird flavoured "
Having spent too much time over the last few weeks building trains, I need a break and thought this might be a fun build.
I know Pegasus doesn't have a good reputation for easy quick build kits, but this is a small simple kit so might not be too difficult the challenge will be painting the wood effect fuselarge

Of course you don't get wafers with it.Purplethistle wrote:Do you get wafers with it?
But you do get these parts

The kit is simple and needs lots of fettling to clear the flash and make the parts fit, but on a plus side the plastic is soft and easy to work with and the white metal parts are nicely detailed.

You need to trim, test fit, trim, test fit, trim, test fit a lot with this kit but due to its small size progress is quick.

Nice work so far. I have the Roden kit of this but am terrified of it, so in the stash it stays. Onward!

To try and get a wood effect I have given the body a base colour of deck tan brown followed by a coat of Klear. Once the Klear dries I will try a using oil paints to get a wood effect.

Good start, Alan. Doesn't look as rough as I'd expected - or perhaps you've just done an excellent job of the clean-up!

Re: Splash's bird on a stick
It surprised me as well, I thought it would be rougher than it was. It could just be down to its small size and simple shape. So far it's been an enjoyable build.PaulBradley wrote:Good start, Alan. Doesn't look as rough as I'd expected - or perhaps you've just done an excellent job of the clean-up!

Re: Splash's bird on a stick
Looking good, just had a quick thought. With all the weight up front from the metal parts, could this have a tendency to be a tail sitter and roll forward on the floats? Could need some weight in the tail.

That's something I had not thought about I think the weight of the thick plastic use will counterbalance the small amount of white metal used.Clashcityrocker wrote:Looking good, just had a quick thought. That looks pretty good. How are you achieving it? Is it a dry brush?
