Friend of mine on Facebook said it wasn't up to much - which is a shame, because I quite fancied it.

Twins of Evil

Old-school Hammer horror fun with Peter Cushing playing the leader of a group of devout Christian witch-hunters, up against a devil worshipping nobleman (there's always one!) hell-bent on ensnaring Cushing's twin nieces and turning them into creatures of the night.

Cue gratuitous (for the time) violence and heaving bosoms galore! :)

Its very nasty and graphic in terms of violence and quite a bit of the action is questionable in terms of military tactics and reality. Without giving too much away, Fury seems to be impervious to AT rounds, even 88mm ones at point blank range, plus (PEDANT ALERT!!!!!) Its supposed to be veteran "lived in" tank but it's an Easy 8 Sherman that would have only entered service a few weeks before the film is set. :frown: .

That said, the vehicles, weapons and uniforms were obviously seriously well researched in general and if you like movies with lots of action you won't be disappointed.

Thanks Dazzled for taking the time, that's a really useful summary. Somebody at work said the end was a bit implausible, but he also said it's the first tank based film to use nearly all original tanks and minimal mock-ups (some came from Bovington apparently).

Good tank movies also need to capture the awful claustrophobic atmosphere inside (probably the best example of this in film is in ‘Das Boot’, inside the submarine), I wonder how well ‘Fury’ copes with that element.

I enjoyed Fury for what it was, an action movie set in WWII for the general public. Yes, some questionable bits but the general public won't know that and I have forced myself to just ignore certain things in war flicks to help enjoy the show. Course, that really doesn't help with stuff like Pearl Harbor :boom:

Last night went to John Wick. Another fairly graphic action movie and I didn't keep up on the body count but if you want plot line or character development, you need to see another show. That being said, was good for what it was.

V for Vendetta

Futuristic thriller about a masked vigilante determined to bring down the fascist government running the country.

Great film.

Life of Pi

Yes, again, but my lady friend had never seen it, and my new big-ass TV needed testing out.

It was almost like watching it on the silver screen - only cheaper! :ha:

An original, running, Tiger 1 did, by all accounts!

Anyway, last movie I watched was an all-time classic.

I am always wary of Mike Leigh films, some are good, some are awful and some are just self indulgent piffle.

But somebody at work said Mr. Turner was brilliant! And Timothy Spall is superb. But he is a Mike Leigh fan........

I'm more likley to believe your review Dazzled!
