Convair B-36 Peacemaker model kit --- in 1/48!

Post by PropWash »

My apologies if this isn't the proper place to post this.

I was perusing the Hobby Link Japan web site and came across this beast: https://hlj.com/product/HPH48046L

It is a December 2017 release (and is showing as Out of Stock), is resin and fiberglass, and has a nice set of PE parts. Oh, it is only $1,122 USD ( 935 Euros). I built a 1/72 plastic kit of the B-36 and cannot imagine how big or heavy this kit might be.

I'd need an extension, the Albert Hall should do.
I wish, that I knew what was doing!

Looks like it's about a life time supply of modelling in one box! Not really my cup-o-tea.

Some madmen had a 1/48th B-36 kit on display (unbuilt) at SMW in November, I'm not sure if it was these guys or some other certifiable loons, but in that scale it's big. Bigger than big - in fact I may have flown in smaller light aircraft :ha:

Having built two 1/72nd scale ones, a 48th scale one just sounds insane!. And I want one but won't ever be able to get one!!. The 72nd scale ones are something like 3 feet wide and not much less long! .
Hoping to return to modelling sometime this year!!

It's pretty awesome, as I'm sure you can imagine, and the detail is top notch. If only I had the room.......

The HPH Models web site has some nice pics of their other kits. If you would rather have something..smaller. ;-)

I'd still have one if offered!!!. MWMBO (Mum Who Must Be Obeyed!!!) wouldn't like it taking up so much space though.

I view kits like this in 2 ways.
1. I have no interest in it and would not spend the money.
2. I'd happily accept the modeling challenge if it showed up on my doorstep.

 I do like that! But don't spend too much time watching out the front window for a delivery to your doorstep.
