Keep calm and read on !

We in fact had a "reading" thread of some 20 pages on the very next page, so I just merged Sir T's new thread with the existing one.

My current book is Thomas Ricks' The Generals and on the lighter side G.M.Maillot's 1st Max Tudor mystery Wicked Autumn.

I've just finished ' Never in Anger' by Anthony Bendell, an ex RAF Lightning pilot who then was diagnosed with MS, ending his career. A fascinating read of RAF life in the 50's and beyond and a startling insight into the effects of MS.
Currently in reading 'Forgotten Sacrifice' by Michael Walling about the Arctic convoys. Very interesting so far
Best wishes

Having finished The Generals, I am back into WW1 with:

Canada's Sons and Great Britain in the World War
Col George Naismith, intro by Gen Sir Arthur Currie, KCB, KCMG
John C Winston Co, Ltd, Toronto, 1919

It is in excellent condition but I must be gentle with it.
I picked it up in a dandy used book shop in Victoria about a year ago.

Eric Mc wrote:Following my stint on the NASA SIG stand at Telford, I've become all fired up on space matters. I'm therefore reading "Lost Moon - The Story of Apollo 13". This was the book that inspired the movie "Apollo 13".
That's a good book. Personally I like "A Man on the Moon" by Andrew Chaikin and also "Failure is Not an Option" by Gene Kranz too.

This thread took some finding again.
Just reading Asimov's the rest of the robots. A collection of his short stories about......robots  A damn fine read however.

All the best.

David Fromkin's A Peace to End All Peace, The Fall of the Ottoman Empire and the Creation of the Modern Middle East.

Probably one of the best books I have ever read; a very well-organized and written history of a complex subject that is a precursor to world problems today.

Another Asimov book for me. The Martian way. Only a couple of dozen pages in so far but it's good going so far.

All the best.

I am reading the Martian by Andy Weir. Saw the movie first but the book is a great read filling in lots of details.

Love Becomes A Funeral Pyre, a biography of The Doors by Mick Wall. Not a Doors fan as such, I only have a 40th anniversary CD of their hits, but it was a Christmas pressie from my daughter.

Mostly leafing through back issues of 'Aeroplane' Magazine that an old pal lends me from time to time. So much great subject material for the next build between those pages.

Found 'Wings on my Sleeve' by Eric Brown on thursday at the local market's book stall. Thought it worth a couple of quid from what I've heard it's a good book.
Hoping to return to modelling sometime this year!!

Working my way though the Flashman books. Just thinking that they would make for unusual dioramas :-D
