Daz's Taifun **FINISHED**

This is a GB for Heller kits and derivatives thereof - any kit, any scale, any variant, any markings. However, not everyone is allowed to build HMS Victory, so get your bids in early. Runs 12 September through 11 October and your host is TobyC.

Daz's Taifun **FINISHED**

Post by DazDaMan »

OK, so my first build is one of my favourite warbirds:

Image

Should be quite familiar to everyone, following appearances in numerous war films over the years (The Longest Day, 633 Squadron, and Von Ryan's Express, to name a few).

I plan on doing it as a "what-if" of sorts - how I would paint my '108 if I bought one after a Lottery win!

Yep - this will be my third, I think.

I had thought about doing it as a Nord 1002 with a Lycoming up front, but I couldn't figure out a way to make the cowlings.

A Luftwaffe desert scheme with a big red & white snake along the fuselage?

OK, so this has ended up being my second build, but not to worry!

Here's the bits out of the box:

I don't foresee any major issues here.

So, once I painted the innards, I managed to get some bits assembled.

Taking my cue from a preserved Nord 1002 flying in the UK, I've painted my whiffer-warbird in a Battle of Britain-style colour scheme:
Image

Camouflage isn't quite finished yet, as this one will need some splodging on the fuselage sides - and lots and lots of yellow bits!

Messerschmitt Bf108B-2 "Taifun" G-HUNN/Black 13, owned by Lottery winner Daren Cogdon. The aircraft is based alongside his Spitfire XVI at the Museum of Flight, East Fortune, where they are star attractions at the venue.
;-)

So yeah, if my numbers come up tomorrow, guess what's on my shopping list! :-D

And Purplethistle was in the right area with his snake idea.... ;-)

A nice looking aeroplane, and it looks good in that scheme.
