Lovely looking kit. Nice to have something other than an aircraft.

Nice choice, I'm sure you'll WALTZ it

Re: Tim Charlestons with a Tin Snail
Looking forward to watching this build. I've worked on and driven a few of these cars. I hope the kit is more fun than the real thing because the real car was a dog of wolfhound proportions to drive in my humble opinion (and I have driven some pretty poor examples of automobile).
All the best.

I remember borrowing one once. It was like being chased around town by a lawn mower!Gregers wrote:Looking forward to watching this build. I've worked on and driven a few of these cars. Re: Tim Charlestons with a Tin Snail
We once drove to a motorcycle show in one, a Charlston too. Four adults and a 2-week old baby crammed into it.
It was memorable, I'll say that

Re: Tim Charlestons with a Tin Snail
Sorry about the slow start (it is a 2CV, what did you expect? ) but work has commenced. I started by fitting the suspension parts to the chassis.
Next the chassis was sprayed black and the wheels were sprayed with Humbrol Hu20 Crimson. The instructions say to use Hu19 but Hu20 is a much closer match to the colour used on the Charleston.
After giving the body a coat of primer it was time for a quick mock up.
I thought that while I've got this one on the bench I'd finish my Airfix 2CV Dolly version of the same kit which I started around 1991.
It's gone together well so far, hopefully the rest will be as easy.

Both looking good Tim
Re: Tim Charlestons with a Tin Snail
This is starting to look like a fine build. Nice one. Incidentally the one I drove was a dolly in those colours.
All the best.

Re: Tim Charlestons with a Tin Snail
Sorry about the lack of updates but there has been some progress. First, the body was painted Hu20 Crimson.
Then, after some masking, I sprayed the black.
Nurse, remove the bandages. I'm pleased with how it turned out.
Now that the body is painted I've moved on to the interior, which has gone together well so far.
I need to get to work on the engine next if I'm to finish on time.

Excellent work Tim. I was at the Haynes Museum this weekend and conspicuous by its absence was the 2CV as was the VW Beetle(I suspect that had been removed for an emissions test though )
