Marky's Heinkel ***FINISHED***

This is a GB for Heller kits and derivatives thereof - any kit, any scale, any variant, any markings. However, not everyone is allowed to build HMS Victory, so get your bids in early. Runs 12 September through 11 October and your host is TobyC.

Marky's Heinkel ***FINISHED***

Post by MarkyM607 »

Although I have the DH 89 Dragon Rapide in the stash, I think I'll go with the He 112 fighter. IIRC it was a rival to the BF 109?. Anyhow, I've been watching my nephew play football this morning and I have a cold so no loft excursions lately, however the 112 is in the model room and ready for action so it's up next.
Edit: Finally remembered to take a pic of the box so here is my build. I have started last night, the prop and the pilot seat are done.

For some reason I forgot to take a pic of the seat but here is the prop.

Quite surprised at the apparently short wing span, although it doesn't seem on comparison to be that different to the 109. Also has a two blade prop which I didn't expect. Seems a nice kit though.
One point which has been brought up in another section of the forum is swastika's. On the box you can see the tail has the white background to the swastika filled with a black circle but the instructions show the symbol and there is one on the decal sheet in one piece. Not sure how old the kit is at the moment.

Because of the blue/white/red stripes at the start of the Heller logo, looks like 1979 according to Scalemates

Yeah because of the legality of depicting swastikas on model kit boxes in a lot of countries, I had to make an awkward purchase a few years ago of a decal sheet with them in several shapes and colours. Historical accuracy is my cross to bear. I have this Heinkel in the stash and am watching with great interest.....

It's a really nice kit I think. The two side panels on the nose slot in perfectly!. Only thing is the shapes. It has a 'slightly plumper Spitfire' look but has a lovely Spit like wing shape and a streamlined 'fish' shape fuselage. Then the horizontal tails are more angular and Mustang shaped. Doesn't really go together!!.

Hi, sorry about the lack of updates. Gave myself a couple of modelling free days after the hectic rush of two Gladiators and a Battle for the BoB GB!!. Will get some more pics of this done hopefully tomorrow.

Progress so far..
The green is Humbrol 226 but it's gone on a little 'weathered'. However it looks okay actually so I'll leave it. Only the undercarriage and decals to do and she's done!.

I've never seen this aircraft before; it's rather elegant really!

Progress looks good so far
Best wishes
