Marky's Heinkel ***FINISHED***
Re: Marky's Heinkel
Got all but the underside decals on last night. Will try and get pics of it tomorrow. Photobucket is good but runs so cantankerously and sometimes slow on my PC that I can only stomach so much posting of pics!!. (Plus I forgot to take them before I loaded the Catalina pics)
Hoping to return to modelling sometime this year!!

Re: Marky's Heinkel
Finished. There are only 10 decals and eight of them are crosses. As with the FW189 I did for the Focke-Wulf GB this one has swastika's on for historical accuracy!. I am now at peace with the whole 'should I/shouldn't I put swastika's on' thing as I now know the symbol was/is a peaceful/good luck symbol that was hijacked. Also the originals are level rather than tilted so now they go on all Luftwaffe models. Phew. Time for some pics.. Might have to replace the top and side crosses as they bleached okay in the sun (yes we had some!!) but there is some silvering/carrier film visible.
The underside ones look okay though...
Could be a better job to be done from this kit but I'm happy with it for now. Would definitely get another at a decent price (Kingkit have them but they're £14-99..maybe), as just like Heller's Bf109E this is a nice little kit that goes together well. It may seem a bit basic but it is a good kit.

That's a very nice build. It looks a bit like a Spit upside down.
Enjoyment over accuracy. That's my motto

Nice work, did you gloss coat before decaling? If not it might be the cause of the silvering if its a matt finish.
Re: Marky's Heinkel ***FINISHED***
It does have a Spitfire look to the wings and fuselage, although slightly plumper in body and shorter in wing!. I did use Revell Gloss Varnish before putting the decals on but the result was still what you see. The decals are quite old and had yellowed, got some sun on them but still... Might replace them at some point, I think I have some in the spares box.

Nice one Marky. It does have a Spitty look to the front, but also a kinda P-51 look to the back....Spitstang?

A really attractive aircraft.. shame Messerschmidt slipped a brown envelope full of Reichmarks to the RLM...(kidding!)
Is this your sanderling?.

Thanks Thistle, that is my general view of the aircraft. Happily I found another at the IPMS Brampton model show on Sunday for £6 so I might go whiffy and do a high altitude wide winged version. Spitstang is now my official unofficial name for the He 112!!.
Arc, I did hear (in regard to this or another fighter Heinkel did), that they were told to 'stick to Bombers' because that's what was needed!!.

Great job. I built one in BoB markings a few years ago. It;s a nice kit.

Thanks all. It is a simple kit but that to me just makes it seem nicer!. RAF markings for the other one, perhaps along the lines of the black 'Do not touch' FW190 I've seen.
