To build a pairing of machines which would have had a dog-fight, which is the general term for fighter aeroplanes fighting each other. It does not include bomber interception, or missile attacks, but does include "dogfight" type combat of ships, AFV, Sci-Fi, etc.
GB runs 3 Oct - 15 Nov and your host is FredK.

The object of the GB is to build a pairing of machines which would have had a dog-fight, which is the general term for fighter aeroplanes fighting each other. It does not include bomber interception, or missile attacks, although I suppose a Sunderland vs a Condor would be appropriate.

Although the term applies to aeroplanes, we will include AFVs, ships and Sci-Fi, maybe figures ? Tiger verses Sherman, Crusader vs Panzer 111, Graf Spee vs HMNZS Ajax, USS Enterprise [not that one  , the Star Trek one!] vs Klingon Bird of Prey.

The models do not have to be presented in a dog-fighter display, but extra points if you do.

This GB started from threads here and here.

The GB runs from October 3rd to November 15th; your GBL is FredK who will fill in any other info and I believe there are several items about partial starts.

Thanks John
John has copied over the concept of the Dog-fighters.
So, two adversaries roughly equal in ability in combat.
From life, or film/TV. Animal or machine.
I would include 'vegetable' but I don't think a Triffid can beat anything in a fair fight.

So, sign in here and start a work thread.
You have six weeks to get two models completed, or the 'wuss' clause of build just one to go against something you have already built.

From the previous thread I have the following confirmed
1. fredk
2. TobyC
3. DazDaMan
4. jssel
5. Kitaholic
6. Purplethistle
7. Dazzled
8. Arcwelder
9. SirT
10 Molly-new
11 Old_Tonto
Al speling misteaks aer all mi own werk..
Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

I'm in - Hawker Typhoon vs FW-190 (both Airfix NT 1/72)

Not sure about the Display yet, I suppose I could do the stand thing but I'm not a fan of fixed props so I'd have to get them spinning.

The other idea I had was to put the on a base (wheels down) nose to nose, like the Rocky film posters.

Cheers

I'm in with an airshow dogfight double - Spitfire vs Hispano Buchon.

I was tempted to do the OFMC Spitfire and Buchon, but I cannot recall for the life of me what scheme the Spitfire wore, and I'd want it to be spot-on!

You guys that are doing prop aircraft - how are you doing the props?

Static? Propblurs? I'm even toying with the idea of electric motors...

Still in with the Academy Me262 vs. Heller's Spitfire Spit Mk XVI. I'll get the thread going shortly.

Umm.... good question!

I had thought about just leaving the prop blades off - it doesn't look too bad, and I've done it a couple of times already.

Mmmm... interesting idea Daz - I hadn't thought of that.

I don't suppose you have a picture of one?

One I cobbled together a couple of months ago (NOVO Spitfire IX, in case you're interested!)

Just static for me. I'm not a huge fan of prop blurs.

Thanks Daz - yeah that doesn't look half bad that - certainly works on an aircraft with a spinner!
