PT's Fjord Escort **FINISHED**

To build a pairing of machines which would have had a dog-fight, which is the general term for fighter aeroplanes fighting each other. It does not include bomber interception, or missile attacks, but does include "dogfight" type combat of ships, AFV, Sci-Fi, etc.

Post by Purplethistle »

Just a place marker here at the moment, I have an event in early Oct. that I need to get some paintings finished in time for. Work will progress on the 12th.

Would it perhaps be an Oasis vs Blur dogfight?

I was all set to use my Airfix 54mm 1815 95th Rifleman to make one and a half of the protagonists, but I've had another idea that would need the Rifleman and a French Grenadier of the Imperial Guard. So it looks like I'll be using 1/35 Dragon 8th Army figures for this one.

The siege is over! Glasgow has a decent LMS now, so I can get hold of the kits that I want for this RAF Mustang v FW 190 duel over Norway. I will continue the Dirty Harry one elsewhere, but I'm fired up about this one as I'm going to experiment with a prop blur effect on this. (paint the kit prop, photograph it against a white background, then edit the photo using the 'Finger smudge' tool and then print onto thin clear acetate sheet) Wish me luck chaps!

The protagonists -

Work so far on the Hase FW190....a sweet little kit that just falls together.
I sawed off the pilots head to reposition it so that he's looking back over his shoulder :-D

I had hoped to cut off the ailerons to reposition them for violent manoevering, but the way the wing was moulded it was a bit thick for a neat cut along a curved line, maybe the Mustang will be more amenable.

Some paint slapped on, weathering next. Unfortunately the decals are pretty yellowed and fragile, having been in the loft for about 20 years! I don't suppose that anyone has a pair of spare blue number 5's?
