Daz's Dogfight Double - **DONE**

To build a pairing of machines which would have had a dog-fight, which is the general term for fighter aeroplanes fighting each other. It does not include bomber interception, or missile attacks, but does include "dogfight" type combat of ships, AFV, Sci-Fi, etc.

Now I'm wondering about my Spitfire choice.

I was wanting to do the Spitfire XVI and Buchon in the photo, but I'm tempted to do the Airfix Spitfire IX as MH434 and the Buchon as G-BOML....

Daz, Are you sure you're up to this? I mean, a Spitfire? They take a bit of practice you know :ha: :-D

Still, as the saying goes.......you can never......
Best wishes

Right, chaps, trying to decide between two warbird options is getting me nowhere....!

HOWEVER!

I did choose two kits to build for the Heller GB, but haven't had the time to do them for that one. However, a Spitfire XVI and Bf109K-4 would be about right together, and they are already out of the stash....!

Right, so after much deliberation, my choice of kits will be:

and

I've built plenty(!) Spitfire XVIs before, but never the '109K, so I hope it's not got any surprises in store for me! The '109 will be strictly OOB, but the Spit may have spares box decals if the kit's versions are a bit iffy.

So, let's start with the Spitfire:

OK, we should all be familiar with this pile of plastic...
Image

I'd totally forgotten that I had pinched the canopy from this one to use on another (I strongly suspect it was the Airfix Mk.IX I converted a few months ago), so the kit will use one of these vac-formed jobs:

And the decals aren't that sickly green colour, and are pretty well registered!

And here's the '109's box:

Anyone got any hints or tips for this, or is it a nice, easy build?

Great choices Daz. Back in the day the Heller 109 series was considered top notch. I think they still hold up today.

So hopefully this one will do the same!

I'm going to leave off the propellers on these models, since they will be modelled as "in flight", rather than static.

So far, the Spitfire's wings have been put together, as has the cockpit components.

Pics will follow later.
