I seem to have got a particularly flash-laden example, particularly the u/c. In addition to a pin where there should be a hole in one of the nacelles, one wheel support pin is too short and on one leg, where there are 4 'pins' that should meet and join, I have two that are too long and two that are too short....and you've guessed it!.....the long is against a long and the short against a short.....What a Joubert!

Back OT, sounds like you picked up a real duff one there mate. Haven't had any of those issues with mine. Fortunately we know you are well up to the challenge of putting that right

I think the quality controller might have been South African, Kit!

......and there's one of the thin rear struts just snapped!  :boom:

Think my luck might improve if I change plans and do the Aussie version of this kit instead of the Scottish based one? :frown:

Despite a load of Joubert-ups there has been some progress....

That's starting to look very nice. The Banff scheme mossies always looked kind of shark like to me.

All the best.

A Great White with 4 303s, 4 cannon and 8 rockets?! ...."You're gonna need a bigger boat!" :-D

Speaking of rockets, that's the next job. Everything else is painted and sub-assemblies done, just waiting to be put together once the footery rocket rails are on.
The Banff mossies latterly used two tier rocket rails and moved the long range tanks out to 'point 8' on the wings, where the inner two rocket rails are on the kit. They also used the slimmer headed 25lb solid head rockets instead of the bulbous 60lb explosive ones that are in the kit. They had found that for anti-shipping, the 60lb ers exploded causing surface damage, but the solid heads could punch right through a ship or u-boat, usually exiting below the waterline.
To make 25lb ers I'll cut off the bullrush-ey 60lb er heads and replace them with plastic rod tapered to a point at the front and slightly rounded off at the rear. I had found some two tier rockets from the Academy Spit XIV and had planned to use them but they don't have the launch rail, so it'll be the kit ones getting adapted for use.

Hopefully will have something worth photographing tonight. Most of the recent work has been sanding down the kits rocket heads to the less bulbous 25lb solid heads, attaching the two outer rails on each wing and cutting off the other 4 rockets from the rails and cutting teeny tinystirrups to attach the lower tier rockets. Not overly happy with the thickness of the kits rocket tail fins, I might replace them late on if time allows.
Also, have cut out where the navigation lights are on the wingtips (Front position only on the Mk. VI, according to my Aircraft Archive book) I'll add little blobs of red and green and then build up the shape of the clear covers with PVA.

Most of the work done, still got to add the lower tier of rockets, add aerial and a bit more weathering.
