Andrew's Swedish Klemm *Finished*

In honor of all those ol' training aircraft - the home of many a foundering fledgling oblivious that while the IP was attempting to show a calm, reassuring demeanor, his hands, tightly clutched onto some aircraft part, were slowly tearing it to pieces .... Many of us have been there .... The GB runs 1 to 29 Nov, and your host is Old_Tonto.

Andrew's Swedish Klemm *Finished*

Post by AndrewR »

A limited run kit by Huma, in 1/72. Lots of decals and options, but I think I'll go the Ikea route and go for the Swedish training variant. I love that colour scheme

Image

As you can see, it's a simple kit. Soft plastic, and a few dimples to fix in places.

That is a nice colour scheme. Great choice.

There is a much more ambitious one in black, yellow and red (German flag colours) but it's a lot of stripes and wing sunbursts. Just a bit too much ☺

I haven't decided yet. But the ski option is interesting. The skis look a bit clunky though.

The interior gets a once over in VA grey-blue RLM 76.

I'm hoping to get the fuselage closed up later today.

I really like the old Huma range of interwar aerobatic/trainer aircraft Andrew but the Kl35 is one that has eluded me up to now. If you enjoy it then I recommend the Fieseler Fi-5, Bucker Bu180 Student and the Klemm KL45. All lovely kits and they make an attractive collection which doesn't need acres of space to display.

They are quite tricky to find on eBay, and can go for higher prices than I can afford. I was lucky to nobble this one for a few dollars!

Nice build idea, Andrew. The Klemm will look really great in Swedish kit. I saw one of these kits in the same place that I found my Flettner Kolibri but foolishly did not get it.

It went together pretty well. The wings aren't a great fit, but I've seen much, much worse.

I've done some sanding and filling, so it's ready for a little paint.

Jeez! It's only day three and you've got an airplane already.

When there are only about ten parts to assemble, it's easy

There's no point doing cockpit detailing either. You can't see anything at all.

Looks like a good choice for a Blitz kit. Good start.
