Toby's Rookie Ryan. FINISHED

In honor of all those ol' training aircraft - the home of many a foundering fledgling oblivious that while the IP was attempting to show a calm, reassuring demeanor, his hands, tightly clutched onto some aircraft part, were slowly tearing it to pieces .... Many of us have been there .... The GB runs 1 to 29 Nov, and your host is Old_Tonto.

Staring to look the part. One thing I do find annoying with a lot of kits are the oversize tail decals that require a lot of trimming and often that can go very wrong. Watch this space

Decals are easy to use and Microsol works well. Just applied some so you may notice the crinkling had just started.

Really looking good now Toby!

PS I know what you mean about the tail decals.......I usually leave well alone for a couple of days and then try and stick them around the other side with thinned PVA
Best wishes

This came very close to going in the bin. Both rear stabilisers won't stay adhered no matter what I do. I've tried one final fix but if that doesn't work it'll be going the same way as Harrison Ford's one.

You may be correct if it goes pear shaped. Just need to find some pics of Fords crashed Ryan and then I might join the Diorama on a cd GB

I would put some card or foam in the vice to stop the jaws damaging the paint work, it will also help spread the pressure.

They're rubber jaws and was only in there for a few minutes with very little pressure..

Still haven't got the tail stabilisers quite right but I'm not going to waste any more time on them. I just want to get it rigged and finished.

Rigging on main wing done. Just need to finish off on the tail.

My first bit of multi tasking with the HB GB and it got me wondering how many P51 pilots had their first lessons on the Ryan PT20?
