Chuck's build #2; Eduard Mig-15 UTI in 1/72 ***FINISHED*****

In honor of all those ol' training aircraft - the home of many a foundering fledgling oblivious that while the IP was attempting to show a calm, reassuring demeanor, his hands, tightly clutched onto some aircraft part, were slowly tearing it to pieces .... Many of us have been there .... The GB runs 1 to 29 Nov, and your host is Old_Tonto.

Chuck's build #2; Eduard Mig-15 UTI in 1/72 ***FINISHED*****

Post by Chuck Finley »

I have a reputation in my local club of being one of the more prolific model builders as I am often working on two or more kits at the same time. My second build that will be concurrent with my FW-56 Stosser is the new Mig-15 Uti (NATO codename: Midget) in 1/72 by Eduard. The kit is the profipack that has canopy masks, pre-painted photo etch, and markings for five different aircraft. I am leaning towards a Soviet flown Midget from around the 1960s-70s for this build.

I just finished up pre-painting the interior of the aircraft and am ready to start building in the morning. I had the misfortune of opening a bottle of Testors Light Ghost Grey and discovered chunks of solid paint floating in the bottle. Fortunately, I had a second bottle that was still good.

Finished the cockpit. As always, the Eduard photo etch really adds to the kit.

Initial build completed. Now, on to painting the first color to the kit. In this case, Royal Blue to the tail.

That does look nice. I've recently treated myself to some Eduard kits and they do look good.

The Mig has been mostly finished and painted with Al-Clad Airframe Aluminum. All that's left is touching up the paint, adding drop tanks and some minor parts. Following will be decals and the build will be done.

Thanks, the kit is well worth the money and a great bargain when you add in the canopy masks and photoetch.

And thus another project comes to a close and now on to taking advantage of Thanksgiving Break (I'm a teacher). I have a Meng F-102A and Eduard Bf-110G2 profipack to build before I head back to school.

Thanks. And to top off the last school day before spring break, the school had a work make-up day and those students who were caught up and watch a movie. My model club kids chose to have a extra two hour build session so five of my club members and myself worked on models from 8:00am to 9:00am and finished the day building from 2:00pm to 4:00pm!
