F86F Sabre, SAAF

Post by fredk »

I too will attempt an F86F Sabre, in the kit markings for the SAAF in Korea.
I actually bought this kit mail order to use some aftermarket SAAF Korean war decals on and to my surprise the kit comes with that option.

I like the way the decals are pre-cut for the open air-brakes.

One change or extra I'll be doing; all the photos I've seen of SAAF Sabres show them carrying 1000lb bombs as well as the drop tanks so I'll add hard points and two bombs.

That's a nice idea with the bombs. Look forward to seeing it.

This is a great kit but an unrepentant tail sitter. HUGE amounts of nose weight needed here. I did the SAAF version a few years back and it looks very fine (even with my standards - or lack of).

All the best.

Warning noted Greg, thanks. I usually put a good load of lead in but I'll pay attention to this.
