Hi,
I'll be doing the Rafale M in 1/72. I bought this kit mainly as I wanted the specific 2000L fuel tanks for a Mirage 2000D I want to build at some point.
Any how the kit is nice bring 1/2 way between a conventional kit and an 'easy kit'. Being a simple colour scheme is a bonus.
I'll post up some images one I get started...
Cheers

Gadfly's Rafale M
Re: Gadfly's Rafale M
Hi,
An update.. Work has begun on the Rafale..
Here it is under construction at the weekend. We had a bit of a model show here and I manned our stand and worked on the Rafale as the folk walked by. Selling a few older kits in the process to folk.
One of our club members also started work on the new Airfix Shackleton..
Anyhow the kit went together ok up to the point of fitting the intakes and the nose well insert. These parts were horrendously poorly fitting so I ended up cutting off the location tabs on the intakes and with a bit of modification got the fit about 85% correct same with the nose well insert it was poorly fitting so I evened out the worst and worked with that.
Here it is after a bit of sanding and a good dose of melted sprue as filler..
You can see that the spine which comes as a seperate piece had a gap I filled this with a piece of plastic card.
I used a bit of grey paint to check the seam lines on the intakes. They have cleaned up after a good test fitting and sanding session and a bit of melted sprue to fill the gap.
It's not the best fitting kit I've ever built but looks ok. Hopefully it will polish up ok with a bit of paint.
Cheers
GF

And who is it says men can't multi-task?
