Arc makes a mess.. now with The Fall... **FINISHED!!**

Any subject, any scale, just so long as it fits within the outer diameter of a CD (or DVD, or BlueRay). And some of those famous UAMF extra ninja brownie bonus points if you can match the CD/DVD with the subject of the build.

Arc makes a mess.. now with The Fall... **FINISHED!!**

Post by Arcwelder »

I'm probably not going to be alone in this, but for my CD I'm going to wreck a plane. Specifically a Nieuport N.28 C-1. While a small WWI plane in 1/72 would actually just about fit intact on a CD, I've invested in a HO scale tree and some other bits and bobs to make that all-too-familiar scene of a delicate wee bipe doing it's best impersonation of a christmas decoration. Seriously, do a google image search for "WWI plane in tree".. those chaps seemed to make a serious habit of it.
Any road, i've an idea in me head of what it's going to look like. The execution, on the other hand will likely be down to my usual level of ineptitude.

Haven't "themed" it on a CD/DVD yet, but will hardly be spoiled for choice: "Crash", "Falling Leaves", Broken Wings", "Chud II: Bud The Chud" ..er.. "What Lies Beneath" etc.. :-D

More soon.

Most of my WWI biplane builds end up like that one when it comes to the rigging stage, but without the tree. ;-)

Yeah.. snapped rigging, struts all over the place and wonky upper wing.. I think I can manage that!

Thanks mate!..

OK, question for the railway/diorama types:

The foliage on the tree is a kind of foam and very fragile. Any quick & easy methods to toughen it up.. rattlecan varnish of some species, maybe? I don't have an airbrush...

Excellent! I'll give it a shot (I have a spare tree so any disasters won't sent me back to the LHS!)

Thanks very much.

Hey, I like the way this is going! I will be looking on with interest as I have a couple of very similar but slightly larger WW1 (Biggles) dioramas to make once I finish off a few Sopwith Camels. I was even briefly considering joining this GB with something similar to this.
Great choice with the N28 8-)

I found that the kit prop for this tends to look massive and ungainly (mainly the prop boss). If I built it again, I'd definitely look for a replacement in my spares.

I built mine in the scheme (Almonacid's) shown in this diorama, which hopefully might provide some added inspiration too as it appears to be more or less CD sized:
