A Desert Island Disc-'The Lost Boys'***Finished***
For this build I will be doing this Airfix double:
There are many options for a donor CD but I eventually decided on this:
EDIT: I have decided that the original CD was a bit unbecoming/blood thirsty so will go with something by Sandy Shore (Shaw) instead.
EDIT 2: Plan 'C' is to link this in with the theme music to one of my favourite films, 'The Lost Boys'.
It is German Recce after all.

Re: A Desert Island Disc
The usual prelim pictures:
The base will be made from some left over lyno;
with some sand for texture and a coat of paint to tie it all together later. The backdrop will be a printed out desert picture.

Re: A Desert Island Disc
Back from an unplanned visit to the in-laws over the weekend so late out of the gate on this. I have managed to get a coat of primer on the insides of the 222, and cut out the lino for the base;
I hope to be able to get some construction started tomorrow.

I like you base idea.
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

Great start!
Best wishes

Love that base.

Re: A Desert Island Disc
Thanks guys. The base will be getting a lot more detail to it, especially now that my donor CD has changed again!! Here it is with the back drop:
Construction has started on the KW, the first task being to remove a couple of ejector pin marks from the inside walls:
I was tempted to add some detailing to the walls, but decided that at this scale it would not be worth it. As part of my developing idea for the diorama I have removed one of the doors:

This has pretty much fallen together, with only minimal flash and no fit issues:
I have fitted the door on upside down to give the impression of interior detail as seen here:

Re: A Desert Island Disc-'Lost Boys'
Having been inspired by other builds in this GB I have decided to add some more interest via a few figures. To fit with the new CD that I am working to, (Yep, I changed my mind again, I am working from a multi-disc player though ) a few alterations are required:
The kit supplied figures appear to depict a soldier looking at the map, so I am changing it to be an officer with the map (asking for trouble I know), by using a figure from the spares box.
The main task will be to remove the webbing belts and all the attachments:
Then I will swap the heads over as the spares figure will become the 222 commander.
