Theme from The Sting - Airfix Scorpion *Finished*

Any subject, any scale, just so long as it fits within the outer diameter of a CD (or DVD, or BlueRay). And some of those famous UAMF extra ninja brownie bonus points if you can match the CD/DVD with the subject of the build.
Runs 20 Dec to 31 Jan, and your host is jRatz.

I was wrong!

Image

Some spare square rod, and I-beam, made most of the stowage rather easy.

Image

The ends still need capping off, and some general tidying done.

Image

Meanwhile the chassis gets filled with lead.

Image

And I'm making a start on a couple of walls for the base, using foam and offcuts from vacform kits. The main part of the base will be the concrete floor left after a building has been partially demolished.

Nice work.

Why the lead weight is it a tail sitter? :ha:
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

Back in '74 ,when I last made the kit, it would not sit down properly on the rather stiff tracks.

Wow, Andrew. Nice looking stowage additions but you'll be done before I get the glue out.

Wow that's looking superb!

Nice tip on adding weight - I'd have never thought to do that on an armour build but it makes perfect sense actually.

Oh, yes, weights in tracked vehicles are very useful to cure nose or tail-sitting and get the suspension/tracks to appear to have some weight on them. The nose/tail-sitting isn't drastic, but sometimes shorter-hull/track vehicles will tilt forward from the weight of a long gun-tube - and you should see what I had to put in my Matchbox AVRE SBG's to handle an extended bridge ....

Lol - Yeah I bet!

I've got some liquid Gravity so I'll add a bit of that.

I do have a backup build, just in case I get this finished too quickly!

Looking good Andrew, with all that lead it will virtually weigh as much as the actual vehicle. The ground pressure was reported to be 6Ibs per square inch so in theory it could drive over your foot without causing an injury. A theory that I never put to the test though! ;-)

Very sensible

Christmas shopping has gobbled up my supposedly free day today. I may be able to do a little modelling tonight, if Young Master Hyperactive goes to bed at a reasonable hour.

The headlights and stowage rack added, and most of the stowage boxes are now boxed in. The lights are bits of transparent sprue, and the rack is a 1/400 scale photoetch ladder!

Image

The only thing added to the chassis are the two towing attachments
Image

The chassis is ready for a coat of primer.

Everything stuck on, so after these two photos, I primed with panzergrau primer.
