Re: The Road to Dunkirk (B.E.F 1940)
I had an hour this morning as the little had woken up this morning - I managed to get the turret together.
I removed the antenna and drilled out the holder to add a wire a little later. I also managed to drill out the Vickers machine guns - and I only stabbed myself with a microdrill twice!

I have always liked the look of that little tank, what's the kit like would you recommend it?

My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

Hi Splash - Yes I would! Get one. I have the new red boxing and it's been a totally hassle free build, nicely moulded, hardly any flash and good fit - I'll only need a smidgen of filler here and there.splash wrote:I have always liked the look of that little tank, what's the kit like would you recommend it?

Re: The Road to Dunkirk (B.E.F 1940)
Sorry, I've been a bit busy over the past few weeks and have not had a lot of bench time.
I have however managed to get the Vickers light tank built and ready for paint...
Looks quite smart actually.
I'm not however impressed with Airfix's 1/76 figures in that horrible soft plastic - hell the hell are you supposed to clean up the seam lines????
I might try and source some others in proper plastic - any suggestion?
Cheers

No pictures - but I have given the tank and figures a coat of black primer.

Nice one, it's good to see you building a tank Stuart. As far as the figure is concerned, it sounds like it has been moulded in the horrid plastic of old which caused the paint to flake off almost upon touching the figure. Soz but as I'm not a figure modeller, I don't really have any suggestions other than to use a new sharp blade in your knife to clean the seams.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Thanks Shaun, it's fun and I'm enjoying the change of pace to be honest - call it a practice for my Challenger!
The figures are awful - but should be good practice.

I had exactly that problem with Airfix figures before.. IIRC, after much experimentation,Citadel flesh managed to stick to them. This was the last Citadel range though, so not sure about the new paints.
Is this your sanderling?.

I have heard that coating them either with Future (Kleer there I believe) or even glue also works.
Haven't tried this myself.

I've managed to make some progress - the vickers has been painted and decaled and I've stripped and primed two of the figures in clear.
Next job is to matt coat and weather the Vickers and paint the figures.
Cheers

Looking good so far Stuart. I got a Vickers VI ready to go soon too and am following yours with interest.
