When Molly-new posted his pic of the Afrika Korps Recce group set, I thought of suggesting Lili Marleen as the song to use, but then decided to keep it for myself. This 'two guys, one song' theme was the first thought, then I thought of doing the Nigel Davenport in the jeep with Lili Marleen on the radio scene from the movie Play Dirty

As an example of how one idea leads to another, I had also thought of doing an American Civil War dio along the same lines, a Union and Confederate junior officer or NCO, either side of defences, one with a harmonica or fiddle, the other with a banjo, both playing 'Lorena'. The song was widely sung by both sides, and at one point the Confederate leaders wanted to ban it as the sentimental nature of the song, they reckoned, led to a high rate of desertions.
