Re: OT's Cool Gripen
There's something very cool about Swedish jets (no pun intended). Yours looks great!

Re: OT's Cool Gripen
Thanks guy's. I've spent the last few days trying out paint colours before settling on Tamiya XF-19 & XF-66 (Sky Grey & Light Grey). I'm not sure that these are the correct colours but the contrast between the two looks good and to be honest I didn't have much choice.
So having decided on the colours it was on with the main paintwork and this is the result:
Someone on this forum mentioned using 'WhiteTak' roles for achieving a feathered edge between colours so I tried this and am pleased with the result. Next up I need to mask and paint the spine black then give the whole thing a klear coat.
Whilst that dries I'll work on the weapons load out. I've decided to go with drop tanks, AMRAAM & Sidewinders.
Then on to the decals.

Re: OT's Cool Gripen
Having fun with decals tonight!
These buggers stick like glue as soon as they touch the model.
More decals to follow. I also painted the U\C bays and doors and have started work on the missiles. Anyone know what colour AMRAAM missiles are?

Re: OT's Cool Gripen
Finally got round to finishing this one so here she is:
I will put a couple of images in the gallery section.
A big thank you goes out to my secret Santa as this turned out to be a really nice kit and something outside of my usual subjects.
It really got me out of a slump and has kept me sane during my time on the sick. So thanks again.

A real stunner. Those decals really turn it into a Mean Machine. I'm not a big fan of pointy grey jets either, but that's a good 'un!

Thanks guys I really like the way it turned out.
Actually I already am. Planning on doing something grey and pointy for for a blitz build.Research Dept wrote:Fantastic! Would you consider doing more modern jets after this one?

You could do the RAF Typhoon in BoB colours as a compromise!
Best wishes
