I hit a snag with the undercarriage - the wheels don't fit into the locating pins on the leg forks.

I am now making axles from wire to fix this.

I tried adding the undercarriage this afternoon. The oleos don't fit in the locating socket firmly. In fact it's like a ball and socket joint. Wobblier than a wibbly - wobbly thing in fact.

I am now working on a more substantial undercarriage leg structure. :omg

On the bright side, the lower canopy section is now finished. Yay.

I've reinforced the undercarriage, and the plane is now standing on the wheels. It's also had a coat of matt varnish.

Pictures when photobucket recovers!

Edit: several hours later

Nearly there now, Andrew.

I think all that glazing would have defeated me.

It looks sharp enough from here!
It really is almost a Rapide without the spare wing 8-)
Best wishes

The propellers are push fitted in, and still need painting silver.

Image

There are also the struts and some photoetch to add underneath.

But at least the entire canopy is now in place, and the upper window glazed over.

One of the wheels fell off during this photo shoot

The wheel photoetch details are on, and I filled in the gaps around the lower canopy.

The only thing left to do is repaint the dark green on the starboard side of the canopy.

Yay!

I'm going to call this finished.

Image

Brilliant interior, which is mostly invisible. This would make a great museum display type of diorama.

Image

The big letdown is the undercarriage, which is just not well engineered enough to locate and cement!

Image

The masking and photo etch are nice touches.
