Great work and a brilliant tutorial on beer making.
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

Thanks, gents..
There will be more photos soon, but at the moment it's just a couple of coats of Klear drying.. so imagine previous photos but slightly shinier.
Just made my world beating cottage pie.. it's in the oven getting crispy on top.

Make that two..... (unless I was that modeller you were referring to)Arcwelder wrote:Yes, that's the infamous lozenge sheet that Revell, in their wisdom, package with this kit. They've been the cause of much "So, what exactly am I meant to do with this?" among modellers. I've only ever seen one builder online actually colour it in
It nearly killed me. I remember staying up most of the night doing it - this was before I was aware of AM lozenge decals.
The irony is that the entire effort was wasted because I built the wrong Fokker! All that trouble and I went back to the book (Biggles build, of course) and realised it said Fokker D.VIII, not D.VII
Idiot!
Anyway....water under the bridge....
This build is smangin! The brewing even more so....though I have to say that while I have much love for IPAs (having had a Belgian IPA and a Hop Hog IPA last night with my Korma), I have very little for Punk IPA. I only ever had one and in my opinion they made it overly bitter to the point of undrinkability. But if it suits your tastes, more power you! Hope it turns out right.

Re: Arc does a Blitzbrau: It's ON
stepping out for an hour or two.. here's a progress pic
and my world beating cottage pie (which was lovely!)
VV, wasn't you I was referring to and you made a much better fist of it!
I like hops and citrusy hop flavours and aromas, so Punk suits me well.. but yes, it's all a matter of personal taste. This one isn't quite the hop-bomb that Punk is.. Apollo is fairly mellow as a bittering hop, and I'll dry hop with Amarillo, which will smooth it out further.

That looks a cracking cottage pie!
I'm looking forward to Monday as I'm going to the pub on the boat with a colleague and will be having a couple or three pints of Hobgoblin

This is one heck of a blitz. The brewing, the food, and the not-your-average scheme on the D.VII
Always good to see one dressed up in something other than black crosses. Love your work.

The Magnetic Fields make everything better. Truth.JamesPerrin wrote:Finally have time to check in and what do I find. Plane, nice. Beer, great. Magnetic Fields, awesome!
Anyway, this model building lark.. had to take some time out to watch "Wings Of Desire" with SWMBO because nothing says "Saturday Nite Fun!" like an artistic German film. This was my idea, BTW.
I'm rigging.
Pics in a bit.
Choon.

While we're waiting for rigging bits to cure:
Recipe for Deluxe Cottage Pie:
Meat base:
500g Mince (Lamb or Beef)
1 Chili
1 Red Onion
1 Carrot
A bunch of frozen peas
400g Chopped tomatoes
Rest of it:
A bunch of potatoes
A butternut squash
A good fistful of fresh spinach
Olive oil
Salt/pepper/cayenne pepper
Brown the meat. Dice the carrot and boil it till it's nearly soft
Dice the onion and chili and sweat them for ten minutes.. add to the browned meat and cook for ten mins.. then chuck in the chopped toms and cook till most of the water is gone.. put carrots and peas in to the mix.
Stuff to do simulataneously:
Boil a bunch of spuds to make enough mash.
Peel a butternut squash, chop it into chunks, make a spice rub with olive oil, cayenne pepper, sea salt and black pepper, rub that into the squash chunks
Chuck chunks into the oven at 180C for 40 mins
Mash potatoes. Feel free to add butter, cheese, herbs etc.
When the squash is roasted & soft, squish it up too, but make sure you keep all the juices.
Put a meat layer at the bottom of a casserole dish
Lay spinach leaves on top of this layer (steam from below will cook them nicely)
Spread mashed squash over this, evenly.
Potatoes on top, score with a fork, put back in oven for 40 mins.
Eat.
Win.
