Painting underway. Hurrah.
Tamiya XF-83 underneath. That can dry properly then I'll mask for the upper colours.
Accidentally sprayed the cat as well. He now has a medium sea grey patch. Attempts to take a picture were thwarted by the hapless animal being demented with rage.
Oh well. We didn't have PiL yet.

Just getting over an operation on my frozen shoulder Flak. It's going to keep me away from the workbench for a while. Feel like I've been ran over by a train.flakmonkey wrote:Poorly tummy?Old_Tonto wrote:That is coming together well mate. Will be watching from my sick bed.
I hope you feel better soon, OT.
Tiffy is going great, looks like a nice kit.

Oh that's not so good. Especially the train part. And yes it's a nice kit. One of Airfix's best to date.
I'm masking. Update soon.

That's the undersides masked off enough for the ocean grey to go on. I'm using Tamiya XF-82.
Two or three thin coats is usually enough. I'll spray the other side then under the tail before breaking off for some of The Tall Vegetarian Wife's mushroom soup.
I may be feeling a little weird afterwards.

Canopy spraying, with a bowl of chestnut mushroom and madeira soup.
Actually, I'm using paint.
Not soup.

If it was the soup you were spraying I'd suggest thinning it down a tad, and/or using a larger needle size (like about 0.5")
Best wishes

Unfortunately, I don't have any soup thinner. And it's the wrong colour.
I do have right colour in Tamiya, XF-81, so I'm using that instead to do some camouflagery.
Think I'm going quickly enough to finish, if not exactly at the speed of light.

Re: Ok, let's try that again…
The Tall Vegetarian Wife is disturbingly quiet. This can only mean that, like when a five year old is similarly quiet, she is up to something. I am beginning to fear what will make its way ut of the kitchen. Fortunately I have made my own arrangements.
Last week she made a casserole.
With plums.
Read that again.
Plums.
Small wonder that I need to drink.
Slightly off topic, here's a model I've been making.
I'm about to touch up couple of tiny areas with a brush before Klear goes on the whole thing.
Slightly dodgy. But good enough.

That looks very tasty as does the soup.

Yes, just bog standard UHU white tak from Poundland. I didn't bother to spend time masking the grey areas with masking fluid or tape, I just took the crown cap of the airbrush and got in close. Should have taken more time with positioning the white tak but it will pass muster. Vaguely.Old_Tonto wrote:I must try that rolled up sausage camo technique. is it white tak that you are using?
I'm mostly spending far too much time assembling rocket launchers right now. Klear is curing. I have rockets stuck to my fingers, nose, and I think an ear too. A rocket stuck to an ear, not an ear stuck to a finger.
I'm hungry.

Decals. Rockets. Chaos.
The decals are actually being quite troublesome. As in very troublesome. Thicker than expected and surprisingly resistant even to Mr Mark Softer. Not good. Not good at all. Should have gone for the 439 Squadron machine.

What do you mean you don't have soup thinner? Vodka is compatible with all major soup brands...

I'm saving the vodka to soften the decals with.

About two and a half hours to save the world. Major decals are all on; the serials, walkways and the small artwork decal remain. They really are taking a long time to settle and soften and the invasion stripes are a nightmare, as are the leading edge bands.
I doubt that real invasion stripes took anything like this amount of time to do. Should have painted them. Would have been quicker by several degrees of magnitude.

Despite the decal troubles she is beginning to resemble a tiffy. Those rockets look real pretty.
