Hour six finds me on the mandatory union break. Breaking with the theme by having a bottle of Two Women beer from Wisconsin, eh.
And why not?

Then masking and some paint.

And having raised three of them again I ask,Why not, eh?

Nice work Jeff, it is a lovely kit to build!
Best wishes

Hour 7 check in. Bare Metal paint added. I am using Floquil Old Silver. Durable, small pigment and most important you can mask it.

Masking it is good as you can add colors to the original shade and get different panels shades. But this is a blitz so that will be minimum.

Spinner now has the yellow segments added but the solvent has them looking rather wrinkled yet.

Excellent progress Jeff. The P-51 is my favourite prop fighter and at the risk of being thrown out of the country, IMHO, it's a better looker than the Spitfire.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Looking very sharp! I'm tempted to email propagandhi and tell them that their music has been featured (twice) in posts about warplanes. Can't imagine they'd get the joke. Still a great band. Anyway. ONWARDS!!

And I agree with Shaun. The P-51 is much better looking than the Spitfire.

8 hour mark. Getting down to the landing gear and decals. I may have to cannibalize another P51 for the struts as I can not straighten the originals where they will hold.

BTO? Smashie & Nicey approve.

What colour did you use on the anti-glare panel? I know there's heated discussion about the appropriate shade for US gee-gees.

9 hour mark. Last one was 8. Time just zooming along here. Decaling has begun. Leading Edge decals are good and durable. They need a little nudging off the backing paper however.

Looking fantastic Jeff.. one of the coolest things about Mustangs is the multitude of schemes available.. so much more fun than dour two-colour camo Spits. Heresy, I know!

Hey Arc. Forgot to answer your question. Tamiya NATO Black for the anti glare panel.

Get your passport Shaun & apologies to the Queen as you leave. :ha:

Very nice work Jeff. Might have to get myself one of those. A "TANG" is it?

I've usually used Tamiya khaki drab for USAAF anti glittery panels. It's a case of any colour (color) you like, really - WW2 colour film is very unreliable, particularly at the low end of the spectrum. If it feels good, do it.

Having noted with interest your inclusion of BTO, I thought I would semi-hijack here with some more Randy Bachman, from last year's eponymous album. It's really quite good.

Would ya like to learn to fly? Would ya? Would you like to see me try?

Hour 10 and the decaling is going really well I think. The Canadians sure liked Buzz Numbers. So I am down to stenciling and adding the rest of the parts.
