Make it Swift......FINISHED AND WELL HUNG
Right, I'm starting my Blitz at 9am on Tuesday. After agonising over what to build, I've decided to do the Airfix Swift on the basis of:
1. I've got one
2.It's a new tool and should go together well, without half a pound of filler
3. The paint job seems relatively simple and
4. I've got the paint.
It seems a bit of a shame to rush through a nice kit like this, but I've had enough of old clunkers this past week, what with a 1970s Schnellboot and a Sopwith Triplane that's probably almost as old as me.
It's my first time on one of these builds, so please go easy....

Re: Make it Swift......
Just checked, the Tripe is considerably younger than me. Pass me the Zimmer frame.

I attempted to blitz the Revell Tripehound last year. It did not end well.Kevan Bailey wrote:Just checked, the Tripe is considerably younger than me. Pass me the Zimmer frame.

Heard the the Swift is doable. Good luck
Besting 60 years of mediocre building of average kits in the stand off scale

If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing

It's going to be interesting to see how this one goes together. Quite interested in one myself, despite it being in entirely the wrong scale, of course.
Would ya like to learn to fly? Would ya? Would you like to see me try?

Wrong scale for me, too! Much prefer quarter-scale, at least I can see most of the bits. The only reason I was bothering wit the Tripe was because it was £1.62 in one of our local shops. You can't not for that price. It may make an appearance tomorrow as my fill-in job while I'm waiting for the paint to dry.
My Blitz plan is:
Prime the thing
Mask the canopy
Assemble the interior
Stick it all together
Prime the thing again
Spray the underside PRU blue
Mask it off, then spray the topside grey
Mask that off, then spray green.
Finish it off
Simple, eh? Music will be provided courtesy of my Brennan JB7 set to random. There's about 2500 CDs on it, so I should get a variety of things I never knew I had. I'm intending just to keep on at it until it's done. I'll post every hour on the hour, starting at 9.00am.

Re: Make it Swift......
.........and they're off!
Breakfast has been had - wholesome, healthy, boring, you don't want to know - and the heating has been turned on in the Hobby Eyrie. Outside it's sunny, frosty and 2 degrees. Sad news about Hornby's losses; just buy more kits, I say.
Here's everything, note the still-sealed bag. Paint shade crisis last night, now I'm opting for a Tamiya/Humbrol combination as I think the Vallejos look wrong, which is a shame as the Model Airs go on brilliantly.
This is going to be a wheels-up build, not because I'm cutting corners but but because I nearly always do, then hang them from the ceiling. Saves on shelf space, but I have to say that armoured vehicles do look a bit odd.

So this is where we're at:
I'm currently working on the cockpit and the current track is Ancestors from Bjork's Medulla.
