Re: Make it Swift......
I have the deepest of respect for anybody who will immediately, upon opening the box, set straight to and mask a 1/72 canopy. I prefer to coat it with Mr Masking Sol R then leave it as long as possible before destroying it with a knife. In fact, I may just build armour from now on.
Still, that is nice box artwork. The Swift is a lovely example of the days when the British aircraft industry made beautiful looking planes that were, frankly, a bit rubbish.

Would ya like to learn to fly? Would ya? Would you like to see me try?

Not a lot of progress. Cockpit's getting there but the control column's broken. Haven't bothered with the instrument transfers on the side panels as they simply won't go on. Elevenses time, though.
Current track is Jimi Hendrix, Voodoo Chile (the long slow one)

And no pilot! How bad is that? Mine will obviously be being flown by radio control.

Re: Make it Swift......
Finally, something like. For what is, to be honest, a massively expensive kit, it doesn't fit together too well, unlike the wonderful Venom I built last week, which is cheap, beautifully made and even has pilots!
Currently playing: Joy Division, Colony. I've seen them, twice in fact. In Derby.

I was about to ask how the fit was. I think I typed too much already.

Re: Make it Swift......
Just about where I hoped I'd be by this time:
Note the Tipp-ex!
It's been a very exciting hour, as Mrs. Bailey's new patio arrived, and the driver struggled for half an hour trying to back onto our drive
Finally made it, though. Thinking about lunch anytime now.
Listening to Tom Waits, Bottom of the World.

Lunch.
Pea and ham soup with hot bread rolls. Don't you just love Aldi?
Can't believe that this has turned into a filler-fest. Honestly, it's the last thing I expected, but at least it's ready for priming. Then rubbing down. Then priming. Then rubbing down (continue in this vein for as long as you like.
Ears pinned back as George Formby sings about his Little Stick of Blackpool Rock. How did he get away with it in the 'thirties?

Re: Make it Swift......
Still a way to go, here.
In between-times I'm cutting the masks for the camo. I worked out that the kit is 17% bigger than the instructions illustration, so I made an enlarged photocopy of it:
I'm in the process of cutting out the grey bits and transferring them to masking tape:
This is a long, boring process, so I think I won't post at 4.00 pm as there won't be much more to say.
And I'm really ticked off with Humbrol. Just opened a new, sealed tin of PRU blue and its absolutely solid. Luckily I'd bought two, as you do:
Currently slashing my wrists to Magma.

Re: Make it Swift......
Just reached that horrible bit where you're waiting for paint to dry and you can't go any further. So, back to the Tripe. Doing the rigging. Yes. Why? Because its there, I suppose, and I'm trying hard to come to terms with Uschi van der Rosten's "rig that Fokker" filament.
Quite relaxed at the moment with a nice cup of peppermint tea and Jonsi and Alex's Daniel in the Sea

Re: Make it Swift......
Loving the updates and frankly not impressed with the fit issues you are having with what is after all a brand new tooling!
My Swift could be languishing in the stash for a lot longer than it might otherwise having seen this!
Good luck with the rest of it

First camo colour is on. Rigging technique coming along. Mrs. Bailey's off shopping. Nick Drake is singing Northern Skies.
