Re: Let's have some 80s tracks… **TARGET ENGAGED**
Flexible frontal armour on - this was painted with Tamiya XF-58 olive green as a decent approximation of Russian bronze green, then the edges drybrushed with tyre black to simulate wear against the ground. Mig pigments industrial city dirt then did exactly what it says on the tin, and was brushed out from the centres to a full fade towards the edges. I've used that pigment on this build extensively. The tanks were painted in the same basic Tamiya colour, washed, drybrushed, and glued approximately in place.
The 12.7 MG has had a coat of tyre black and is ready for a spot of Mig pigments gunmetal to give it a sheen.
I'm liking this a lot. The urban grime and dust doesn't come across well in a picture, but to the eye it's a filthy little beast. Talking of which, she's home.

Excellent, Flak. I took the liberty of looking up some of your back-catalogue and bloody hell if you aren't a superb modeller on the sly. Hopefully these blitzes get you back into the game with something more considered.
Is the TVW still reading?
No? Cool.

Re: Let's have some 80s tracks… **TARGET ENGAGED**
We keep quiet about my modelling past.
We are also going to have to keep very quiet about the pie. Caught unawares, I had to stash said delicious object very quickly. As with all things one does in haste, wisdom was basically the first ting to go out of the figurative window. I really hope Ginger Daughter isn't wearing those boots tonight. Frankly, I doubt it. She is still beside herself, dear reader. Distraught. My only hope is that something positive comes from this and she may now decide to join the Royal Navy or Le Legion des Étrangers or something. Anything. Anything that involves long periods of being away from home. I wonder if she could train as an astronaut? I shall look into this, presently.
I tried the father thing earlier. You know. Blah blah blah you're a pretty girl (ginger but pretty all the same) and… well… he was sort of funny looking, you know? That didn't go well. I often wonder why I even bother. She can forget all about any hope of hearing my "plenty of fish in the sea" speech. Guaranteed to make a person broken upon love's cruel wheel feel much better. But no. Why should I. She does not deserve my expertise in matters of the heart. My sensitive soul is wasted upon her.
I built a model instead.
I added the de rigeur Soviet tanker's unditching beam from a suitable warped and gnarly Poundland cocktail stick with aluminium tape retaining bands. Improvised camo tarp from a dried out glass cleaning cloth. I picked out the various periscopes and sensors in tyre black, and gave the driving lamps a coat of barley grey Lifecolor acrylic before dotting on lenses from Tamiya clear orange. Close enough.
I quite like it. I did enjoy building it, but it was perhaps the most challenging and complex kit I have ever blitzed. And I did a Dragon Me-262 once, you know. I just don't build armour. It's like being asked, unexpectedly, to fill in on bass for a blues band. You know kind of what to do, but you won't be as good as the bloke who does it every day.
Who cares. It looks like a dirty nasty big bully. Perfect.
Hey, we didn't have these yet. And we should.

Excellent finish, blitz or otherwise!
Will the pie still be worth eating after its sojourn in the boot?
