YCNHTML **DONE**
This is where I shall be failing, massively, to complete an Airfix 1/72 Lightning F2A in 24 hours. I plan on doing the NMF option from the kit.
Frankly, I have more chance of winning the lottery.
And I've never even bought a ticket for that.
The whole thing will begin running out of fuel rapidly on the morning of Wednesday 24th February.

Would ya like to learn to fly? Would ya? Would you like to see me try?

I can't abide such unbridled optimism!
Good luck.

I thought to make it more interesting I could Tamiya metallic shades. How can I lose?
No but I'm keeping some diazepam handy.Old_Tonto wrote:An Airfix Lightning in 24 hours! Are you mad or have you been sniffing the tofu again?

Re: YCNHTML
This should be fun. But not perhaps in the usual sense of the word!
Best wishes

Well, a quick visit to my dictionary turned this up…iggie wrote:This should be fun. But not perhaps in the usual sense of the word!
Fun (noun) - something that provides mirth or amusement.
It just doesn't say to whom it provides those things. I suspect that it won't be me.

How very altruistic of you. Unfortunately I'll miss all of this as we're off to the Other Place tonight and we don't have internet there. Well, we don't but most other people do. Including the bar down on the harbour where we tend to go, just to check our business emails, you understand.
Anyway, a Lightning is really appropriate for a Blitz, nicht wahr?

Well there is that. But by Wednesday evening I imagine that "Ich bin von dieser Scheiße müde" will feel much more appropriate.

Re: YCNHTML
Morning. I feel a little unwell today, undoubtedly due to The Tall Vegetarian Wife's cooking last night. An extraordinary amount of fine crafted beer was necessary to rid myself of the taste.
I can, barely, manage just a little light breakfast this morning.
After that, I shall start building a kit I found. This came to me second hand, and the fuselage halves have been de-sprued.
She's gone to work, complaining bitterly the whole time from waking until leaving the house. I fail to see how she can even begin to imagine that her poor career choice is my fault. Baffling.

Re: YCNHTML
And we're off. I'll start by spraying some medium sea grey onto the cockpit tup, instrument panel, and control column.
I just went to feed the cat. The Tall Vegetarian Wife has, presumably by mistake, bought dog food.
Dave is, understandably, somewhat bemused by this.
I can see it's going to be a long day.

Re: YCNHTML
I've been painting, cleaning up parts, and taking precautions.
Tamiya XF-83 in the cockpit, and XF-16 inside the nosegear bay. I'm going to use the kit's intake cover. No need to muck about inside there too much, then. The jetpipes have had a coat of Alclad jet exhaust. The engine faces have also had a coat of it, and the flame holding rings have been drybrushed with Metalcote 27002. Nobody will ever be looking up the Lightning's bum anyway.
The belly tank forward insert is engineered in an identical fashion to the 1/48 kit. I remember having a bit of a nightmare with that. I've added some strips of plastic card along the upper edges to help with fitting.
The seat should - just about - pass muster under a closed canopy.
Dave is still hungry. He keeps looking at me.
He's in for a bit of a wait.
