Hi Sissel, lovely to have you back again. I've not seen any of the programs you mentioned so I'll do a search and see if they are available from On Demand on the TEVO at some point.
Right, start the clock again at 07:30!

Intakes attached after much cutting and filing. I couldn't live with the gaps, even for a Blitzbau, so used a bit of Humbrol filler.
The bottom panels only fitted if the main intake attachment is perfectly aligned and fitted - it wasn't so some of the fitting moulding lines had to be removed before the bottom panels would sit flat.

I shall move on to the undercarriage construction while this is setting, and may even apply the decals at this stage. There are only 6 Russian stars and two cockpit side numbers to apply. The appropriate areas have already received a couple of coats of Klear last night to stop silvering, as the decals are fairly old. I also painted the decal sheet itself with Klear at the same time, so fingers crossed....

Blimey, it fits where it touches. Can't wait to see the fully assembled kit.

Decals all applied. I used Micro Set and Micro Sol just to be on the safe side as the decals are quite thick and prone to curling - I caught one curling off the fuselage after it had been in place for several minutes!
Undercarriages constructed and rear lower fins attached. Breaking for breakfast now.

I don't think it will be done by 11:30 but I will skip further painting of and attaching the missiles to try and concentrate on the main airframe and shall see how far I get. I will finish it today one way or another. (I'm glad the kit only cost me £7.00)

Thanks iggie. Beany always does a healthy brekkie - porridge, nuts (chopped walnuts, hazels, almonds and brazils), dried blueberries, banana and Acacia honey - nom, nom, nom...

INSERT TOWEL BEING THROWN IN EMOJI HERE
After a final flurry of rubbing down joint and seam lines and then supergluing wings and tailplanes, I noticed I'd made a rookie mistake of putting the decal on the wrong side of each tailplane - and they are both sexed and contoured so can't just be swapped. I tried to soak the decals off but the Micro Set and Micro Sol had done their work very well - a very good advert for them in fact as the decal was impervious to anything I tried short of scratching it off.

Image

So with that I'm throwing the towel in. Enjoyable for the most part but never a kit that was going to yield an impressive result - probably have to look at the Kitty Hawk 1/48 jobbies for that at 6 or 7 times what I paid for this one.

You were all right, she is a big....

Thanks for the support from those who followed it. Watch this space, or the Aviation thread for the final result in a day or two now that I don't have to rush.

Cheers
Al.

A sterling effort Beany and no shame in not making it with something that size; I think it proves that although the parts count may be similar between scales, size really does make a difference :-D

Cracking breakie by the way!
Best wishes

Good effort, and you did get a very large MiG shaped thing for your trouble. You would have done this easily if the kit hadn't been a bit of a pig.

That breakie of yours do look yummy! Banana and honey is delicious. When I'm in hurry my breakie consists of natural yoghurt and acacia honey.

Splendid effort of the bat, it's very quick to make mistakes like that during a blitz, I've sure made my share. Looking forward to seeing this finished at a later stage.
