Spec. Ops Chinook (or not)

Ok, opening a thread with the planned build. Will have to see if I end up doing this or a piece of 72nd armor.

Will this be the chinook in sand and black squiggly lines version?

If so you are a braver man than me.

That's the plan Splash. But it seems I need the EAPS filters for the engines instead of the cone shaped sand filters.

Not looking forward to scratchbuilding them so hopefully I can find a pair somewhere.

Originally I was going to put a Rover in the back but doesn't seem they did this in the Gulf so now deciding whether to do some type of interior and leave the ramp down or just button her up and do the kit supplied parts.

I have both the Airfix and the Testors/Italeri which I think are actually the same kits. Also have some miniguns to stick out the front windows.

The special ops one would be a standout but I appreciate the dilemma of the dustbin sand intakes. Are there good pics available of them?

There are some good pics but I haven't seen the dimensions. Seen a couple scratchbuilds on larger kits and no two look alike.

Aviation Workshop used to make a set (CS-118) but doesn't look like anybody picked up the molds. If you know anybody who wants to part with a set, I am interested.

I have built the Airfix Chinook and spent lots of time on the rear cabin only to find its so dark inside once finished you cant see anything so I just closed up the ramp. The cockpit however is worth detailing as that detail can be viewed through the large glass house.

Looking forward to seeing how the Airfix one shapes up, I did the Matchbox one a while ago and wish I hadn't.

Not sure if I will get to this one as I have two more review kits to do but might be able to do them all at the same time (and a blitz, yeah, sure).

Looks like a few of the night camo'd aircraft did not use the EAPS system so I may be ok to keep my planned build with what I have. Was thinking about trying to detail the rear interior but with less than a month I won't be able to do that if I keep it in the GB.

Will see what happens, have a second interview in a bit with Games Workshop who are looking to open a local store.

Hate it when adulting gets in the way of having some fun.

Good luck with the interview and I second your comment on life interfering with modelling.

Nope and think I need to just delete myself from the GB as I don't see myself getting enough time to do what I want to with this kit.

If I find time to sneak in a smaller subject I will start a new topic.

When I finally get to the point of building this one I will start a build thread in the aviation section.

Have been enjoying the builds that others are doing and will continue to watch.

Sorry to hear that but feel free to start it here even if you don't finish it. I'm sure we'd like to watch and support you if you get the opportunity to work on it.
