Re: UH-60A Blackhawk
Sorry about the lack of updates but I have been having computer problems just recently.
Construction has been completed:
This was followed by a coat of black primer and a couple of thin coats of Vallejo Sand Yellow:
Next step is decals and detail painting....

Great progress. What did you mask the windows with? It's part of modelling I don't enjoy so I'm always curious how everyone else does it.

Re: UH-60A Blackhawk
I tend to use Humbrol 'Maskol' masking fluid when the windows have curved edges like on this. I give them a good coat of klear so that once the Maskol is removed it is easy to tidy up the edged with a sharp tooth pick.dwomby wrote:What did you mask the windows with?

Re: UH-60A Blackhawk
Decals have been added and Maskol removed:
I just realised form the photo that I failed to mask up the cockpit side windows correctly so I have got quite a bit of scrapping off to do, hopefully the coat of klear will protect the clear plastic.

Re: UH-60A Blackhawk
It does look very tidy though!
Best wishes

Do you plan to weather it much? It looks so clean and smart!

Re: UH-60A Blackhawk
This is now finished:
After a coat of matt varnish I applied a light orange wash to tone down the sand colour a bit, and to give a bit of definition to the panel lines. Some black pastel dust has been added to below the exhaust ports as well.
Overall this is a cracking kit that went together with hardly any trouble. A big thanks to David (dwomby) for suggesting this GB and for looking after us all so well.

Lovely Blackhawk! The interior looks spot on and definitely worth the open doors.
