Ditto here. I agonize for ages over everything instead of just getting on with it.

I'm beginning to feel like I'm Wile E Coyote in this scenario....

Thought I had found a good match for well weathered Compass Gray in a spray can with Tamiya Haze Gray, (well, the lid looked a good match!) but it looks a tad dark to me once it's on. After some vigorous rubbing in of white pastel it's not exactly right, but not too bad.

Go back to the bench thinking, "Ach, it turned out ok, it's going to be a well weathered kite anyway", go to put on the TRAM lump under the nose and it's not on the sprue...or in the box or anywhere...Bummer!

A bit more weathering and I'm ready to put some decals on, starting with the Roadrunner badge on the tail. What should have been a single decal soon became the equivalent of a medium skill level jigsaw puzzle. 13 bits it broke into!

and this is before I get to the bit that I've already identified as a potential troublemaker....the canopy

There's a fair bit of weathering on this, but the camera has chosen to ignore it!

...and that pesky Roadrunner and it's 11 piece beak.....

Shattered decals can be SO frustrating. It didn't help me last build but if there's a decal spare on the sheet that I won't need, I always test it to see how well the others on the sheet might behave.

More grief! Tried to put another decal on, a thin black bordered red stripe along the top of the fin, slightly more successful....in that this one only shattered into EIGHT bits
Not really unexpected as the decals are over 20 years old, but still peevesome.
I'll browse the Tips section for advice later, once I've restored my Mojo with the SLUF, but for now this bird is grounded.

Are you coating the decals before using them - Microscale Decal Film works for me but Future/Klear has been used by other modellers.

Thanks for the heads up Skipper, I'll give that a try. It might be wise to do that with my Superscale decals for the SLUF too, they're also over 20 years in the stash like the Carpena ones for the 'truder.

How's the decalling going now? Any better luck with coating them?

Got some Klear on order, Skipper.
Unbelievable! The former 'Second City of the Empire' and I can't just go in a shop and pick up some Klear!
Dashed rum do, what?

I had a 'missed call' from my LMS on Friday, probably to say it had arrived along with other stuff. They're closed on Mondays, so will find out on Tuesday.

The call was to say that some of my order was in, but Klear was proving hard to get. Seeing as the end of GB is only a few days away, I'm thinking of just coating the decals with matt varnish before trying to apply them. Anyone got experience they'd care to impart?

Btw Kit, Oh yes! I fondly remember the old Dockyard. That was an new world of exotic kit brands for a young lad used to only Airfix and the occasional Revell.
