Nice. It's such a fascinating shape - even after all these years.

Has this thread itself gone into stealth mode? How's it going with the F-117?

Work on this has been on the back burner whilst I have been playing with my chopper. (Build here)

As an update this has now had a couple of coats of black, and the decals applied:

I have also painted up the wheel wells:

I am trying to decided on applying some weathering to this to break up the monotony of the black......

I have always been intrigued by it's shape, and having now built one I must say it looks quite sexy.

Having done some more research on the weathering it appears that they have quite a distinct pattern on the underneath whilst flying:

Dotty obviously decided that I had done enough research.

This is my attempt at the weathering:

There are 20 "NO STEP" decals to go on the back, and seeing as I have a couple of days spare I will put them on as the back looks a bit bare:

The weathering looks spot on!

I wonder what causes that; leaks blowing back in the slipstream I guess?

Great to see the weathering pattern on one of those. I've never seen that before.

Have fun with the 'No Step' decals. Tons of stencil decals are too much for this lazy modeller unless, as you say, things look really bare!

Totally agree about the weathering. it looks just how I remember it on the F-117 at Mildenhall passing low overhead back in 1992!(I miss the old Air Fates) Think the other Airfix decal option is the very same machine as it carried the name of an Raf exchange pilot.

Thanks for the reassurance with the weathering guys, I may display it on a mirror otherwise it will never get seen.

The NO STEP decals went on with no problems, and after a quick black wash over the undercarriage I am calling this one done.

Here are the finished pictures:

I think the photography in your first completion post is better than the later one..... :ha:

Great work though to give what could be a very flat scheme some life and variation!

They say that something is 'Art' if it provokes feelings, and your build takes me right back to the time of Desert Storm, particularly of seeing that beast for the first time and thinking how the World had shifted into the realms of science fiction. .......still waiting for the real Angel Interceptors, though! :-D
