Re: Final Fling- VA-46 'Clansmen' SLUF
Cheers chaps,
Due to the sweet fit of the parts, I'm able to do this in a 'Modular Assembly' style.
The fuselage (minus steps, bay doors and teeny tiny appendages is getting weathered and decal-ed. Then onto the wings and arnament once I've researched the missions that this a/c flew. (I have a copy of the Squadrons Combat Diary with every detail of every sortie)
I've got a 1/48 Revell Intruder in the loft, and research of Revell kit instructions on their site shows that there are Rockeyes included....The very chaps I'm looking for!
After that it's a case of putting on the multitude of footery bits that normally get pinged off during a 'Per Instructions' build.

The detail in the wheel well and equipment bay looks great.

I know it looks like aftermarket, but that is just kit detail. all I've done is paint it! I can not recommend this kit highly enough.

The detailing is excellently moulded but your painting and washes are what brings it to life PT; great work
Best wishes

This is a painting I did a while back, of a Clansmen SLUF with a loadout of Mk20s like I plan to have on this build.
Just for fun, anyone care to guess the appropriate title I gave this?

'SLUF Sand Storm'
It's very good, bye-the-way.

Re: Final Fling- VA-46 'Clansmen' SLUF
Cheers Skipper.
I reckon that if the good ship DS GB keeps on a recovery course for 2 more days I can get this bird to 'Finished enough for GB' condition.
I intend to have it on a deck base with two figures and loadout of 7 Rockeyes.... eventually. But to register a 'Finished' for the GB, I'll leave the pylons empty and necessarily leave off the half dozen tiny aerials that would only get pinged off if I put them on before manhandling the weapons on.
Hopefully I'll also get that Intruder to an acceptable state too.

Nice work on the shading.
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

Re: Final Fling- VA-46 'Clansmen' SLUF **FINISHED -ish**
Some of the tiny wheel bay doors to go on the starboard side, some teeny appendages and the mission markings (once I've figured out what they would have been on 18 Feb '91) still to go on, along with the loadout of Mk 20 Rockeyes. But just as nature abhors a vacuum, I abhor admitting a DNF.
I'll do The Full Monty on a separate thread, and hopefully get the mission markings on and photographed tomorrow. But for the moment this is done.
btw, the title of the second painting, the one dropping Mk.20s is 'Rockeye the noo' . .it's okay for me to say it!
