Honoring Edgar Brooks, a Spitfire researcher and contributor to many modelling forums, we have the Every Mark of Spitfire GB -- in which at least one of each will be built, not in a free-for-all, but to a "plan".
The GB runs from 27 Feb 2016 to 10 April and your host are Martin R and Sir T.

This is a special single-type GB honouring both the Spitfire and Edgar Brooks, well-known Spitfire researcher and expert, who contributed much of his time, broad knowledge, and deep passion for the Spitfire on a number of forums, including UAMF.

This GB started from a thread here.

The original concept for this GB was to honour the 80th Anniversary of the first flight of the Spitfire by building one of each mark of the Sptifire but any kit, any scale, any markings would be allowed. The details of this were sorted over time, with the goal to assign "volunteers" to be sure each mark was represented. It was modified to honour Edgar Brooks by his untimely demise in November 2015 .

** Unlike usual UAMF GBs, please do not just drop in with your Spitfire and build away - please coordinate with Martin R to ensure we have the proper coverage to meet the achieve the goals of the GB.

** To aid following this GB, could we ask everyone to use Spitfire/Seafire and the mark as the beginning of your thread title, then follow that with anything else. For example, "Spitfire Ia - whatever else ...."

The GB runs from February 27th to April 10th; your GBL is Martin R who will fill in any other info.

As of November 2016, this was the list of Spitfire marks and respective builders.
Martin R wrote:Latest state of play:

Spitfire Prototype (MarkyM607)
Spitfire I (Ia PaulBradley, PR IV Martin R)
Spitfire II (IIa TobyC, IIa(LR) Andrew R)
Spitfire V (Vb Gadfly, Vc Coptermech, Floatplane lancfan)
Spitfire VI (Gregers)
Spitfire VII (lancfan)
Spitfire VIII (Purplethistle)
Spitfire IX (Gregers)
Spitfire PR X (Sir T)
Spitfire PR XI (Martin R)
Spitfire XII (DazDaMan)
Spitfire XIV (Low Back & High Back - Old Tonto)
Spitfire XVI (DazDaMan)
Spitfire XVIII (Kitaholic)
Spitfire PR XIX (MarkyM607)
Spitfire 21 (Iggie)
Spitfire 22 (Kitaholic)
Spitfire 24 (Sir T)

Seafire I (Martin R)
Seafire II (IIC Gadfly)
Seafire III (Purplethistle)
Seafire XV (PaulBradley)
Seafire 17 (Splash)
Seafire 45 (dwomby)
Seafire 46 (dwomby)
Seafire 47 (lancfan)

So, changes: Gadfly has agreed to add a Spit Vb to the cause, Old Tonto will now build a low back XIV, and dwomby will also be doing the Spitfire 45. Finally, I have agreed to have a go at a third build, the Seafire I. Tbh, if anyone else wants the last, they can have it. Otherwise, I'll have a stab.

The names in the frame are:

3 builds: lancfan, Martin R (gulp!)
2 builds: MarkyM607, Old Tonto, Sir T, dwomby, Gregers, Gadfly, PaulBradley, Kitaholic, Purplethistle, Dazdaman
1 build: Iggie, AndrewR, Coptermech, TobyC

Thanks all for your help. The gaps have now closed in the list. If anyone new (or indeed current builders) wishes to build anything else, I'll add it as we go along.

Thanks all for your support thus far. If we get a goodly number of these built, then I think we'll have a great (virtual) display! Please let me know if anything changes for you in the interim.

regards,

Martin

Well, I shall be doing the Airfix Mk.XII and Italeri/Ocidental Mk.XVI for this.

I've never built the XII, but I've heard it's a cracker of a kit, so fingers crossed I don't make a mess of it.

The Italeri kit is like building a giant Heller kit - really nice and easy.

Piece of cake.

**EDIT**

I'll build the Ocidental kit instead. It's identical, and I already have a colour scheme picked out for it.

That Airfix Spit XII IS a cracker! Have fun with it!

I'll be building the new Airfix 1/48 Spitfire IA and the Hobbycraft 1/48 Seafire XV, suitably tarted up with various bits and bobs from my Spitfire Spares Yard...!

I am building two Fujimi Spitfire XIV kits in 1/72 scale. The first will be a high back, round wingtip example of the Belgium Air Force. I had a long online conversation with Edgar about the Spit in Belgium service, that gentleman certainly knew his stuff.

My second build will be a low back, clipped wing FRXIV of the Royal Indian Air Force because I have the decals. I also have a few Quickboost bits to sort some issues these kits have.

I will be building an Airfix Old Tool 1/72 Spitfire I kit, but adding an underwing tank and converting it to a Mk II (LR)

Edit: I have a Pavla resin set with tank and Rotol prop for this.

Hi chaps!

Looking forward to this one!

My Spit PRIV and PRXI kitbash are ready to start, but I still have to source a Seafire I from somewhere.

As I am still desperately trying to reduce my stash rather than add to it, I'm planning to build my two as kitbashes.

The plan is to adapt the ancient Hawk Spitfire F22, or failing that a Pegasus F22, into the F46 using an Aeroclub contarprop set and adding a tailhook. The F45 is probably going to be the venerable Frog FXIV with wings again from the Hawk or Pegasus F22, and a tailhook plus, I think, an extended rudder. I think they'll work but OK but time will tell.

Perhaps we could persuade our esteemed GB Leader to create place holders in order, into which we could then edit the completion photos?
