Sign-up and Chat

Honoring Edgar Brooks, a Spitfire researcher and contributor to many modelling forums, we have the Every Mark of Spitfire GB -- in which at least one of each will be built, not in a free-for-all, but to a "plan".
The GB runs from 27 Feb 2016 to 10 April and your host are Martin R and Sir T.

That sounds splendid, old chap.

Um...

When I threw away the box/old sprues from PR.X I think I may have thrown away the old wing sprue for my 24. The problem is that it seems to have had tailwheel on it as I no longer seem to have one...

Does anyone have a spare? :-D

Cheers

I have a spare from the Frog XIV but I expect you'll get a better (and closer) offer. If you want it, Stuart, PM me.

I'm looking at radiators for the F45 and FR46 (and same will apply to 21, 22, 24 and 47). I am thinking they are deeper and slightly different in shape at the rear edge than those on the earlier Griffon Spitfires and Seafires. Is that right?

David this link will take you to a good plan view diagram of the mk 17 with details about the radiator http://www.geocities.jp/yoyuso/spit47/17bottom.html it might help you see if the later versions had different radiators.
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

I am now sure the 21-47 had much deeper radiators than than the XII-XIX. Have to work out what to do back on the build thread.

Anyone got spare 602 Sqn 'LO - * codes and Lion Rampant crest from the old tool 1/48 Spit Vb? I'm looking to make a XVI as Raymond Baxters kite. Probably not get it done for this GB, but it's on my 'To do.....soon' list.

Sorry, PT, I wish I had the decals to help but I do hope you find them and build Raymond Baxter's Spitfire. I remember him from Tomorrow's World, of course, and the coverage of the Jaguar maiden flight in particular. He was always so enthusiastic about aeroplanes and a great commentator.

TB382, LO-Z. A survivor, too, being rebuilt to fly.

I can have a look for you, PT. I did have the old-tool Airfix VB built up, so might have the spare decals lying around.

Raymond Baxter also did the fantastic Spitfire documentary featuring Bader and Tuck in the 1970s.
