Stuart's Spitfire mk.I***finished***
Hi Gents,
I wasn't going to do this in the end as I've got another build to finish by Easter, but ad Paul isn't able to do his mk.I as assistant GBL I'd better step into the breach.
I have this kit...
And I'll be doing an early mk.I with the two bladed prop and flat canopy.
These are the kit markings although I'm not sure I believe them as I've never seem a picture of a mk.I with a roundel on top of one wing only (which looks horrible) - so I may try to do something else.
I'm not sure if this will be finished in time but I'll give it ago!
Cheers
Stuart

Re: Stuart's Spitfire mk.I
watching with interest as one landed on the doormat only yesterday (as it dawned on me that I didn't have a Mk.1 either built or to build )
Best wishes

Thanks Chaps - no progress to report yet other than a coat of interior green as it's been a rather busy week!

That odd wing roundel arrangement is correct - I once put up a query about it over on the Key publishing Forum a while back, and eventually turned up a photo of a similarly-marked aircraft:

Edgar Brooks even had some input on it...!

Re: Stuart's Spitfire mk.I
Progress - at last (been a slow week)
After ages spent faffing about with the bloody awful cockpit, I ended up ditching everything bar the bulkhead, seat and ip. The rest went together in about 5 minutes.
Seem work and painting to follow.
Cheers

Re: Stuart's Spitfire mk.I
What was the problem with the cockpit Stuart? I'm in the middle of doing one of these and the cockpit was lovely to build, or at least in my memory......maybe I have deleted a bad experience already!
Best wishes
Jim

Re: Stuart's Spitfire mk.I
It's just a very tight fit iggie and I've never liked them - and for some reason I had a fair bit of flash on mine.
It does fit, you just have take time over it - I got it into my mk.24 ok by glueing it together and into one fuse half before paint. Toby had no issues with his so it might just be me

Re: Stuart's Spitfire mk.I
Hopefully I'll progress this a bit more now - I've filled some seams and I'll get the sanding done later.
