Fred's OV10, the same but not the same **FINISHED**
I bought my Bronco 2nd hand. It has two sets of instructions: one for the parts and one for the decals. The decals I have and which I hope to use are for the Marines.
I'm so used to calling this a Bronco I'd forgotten it was an OV 10 until Gregers mentioned his. I had this sitting out to try to build up for a club meeting on the 21st. So that is the deadline. 10/11 days. I might be able to do it.

Nice one Fred. Familiar looking plastic there. Will the decals be OOB?.
All the best.

Yup, they look alright but I'll give them a coat of LDF as they look just a bit aged.

Thanks for the offer. I'll keep it in mind.
I'm going to be busy all of Thursday, so it looks like I'll be getting into this on Friday.

Surely it has to be done in 10 days to fit in with the theme?fredk wrote:So that is the deadline. 10/11 days. I might be able to do it.

There's an answer to that but it's not printable!. Sort of like 'no chance'!!.Molly-new wrote:Surely it has to be done in 10 days to fit in with the theme?fredk wrote:So that is the deadline. 10/11 days. I might be able to do it.

Photos.
A lot of fillers and fettling needed on this kit.
I had one white metal Bronco ejector seat in my seats box. Bought ages ago as part of a job lot of bits. One of the kit seats was done up a bit for the MiB. The w/m one goes in the front.
The engine booms needed some thin plastic to shim the wing joint area a bit more level. This area has a great curve where it needs to be almost flat;
The rear of the cockpit got blanked off and a shelf with gubbins added. The instrument panel for the MiB got built up as well;
The weapons pod had to be fettled. The fuselage had a big curve but the pod was almost flat. The curves on the ends didn't match either. I got it to a close fit then used plastic soup as a glue-filler. I cut off the 'guns', drilled some holes and I'll use brass tube for new guns.
Since these photos were taken the fuselage, booms main wing and tail wing have all been glued together.

That doesn't look your average Hase kit; they normally go together without fuss even if detail is a bit sparse sometimes.
Looks like you've got this beat anyway!

Re: Fred's OV10, the same but not the same
I think its an old Frog moulding. They shared some kits.
Warning Will Robinson: this needs a LOT of lead to stop being a tail sitter.
I put 6 grams in each engine and the nose of the fuselage. The w/m seat weighs almost 3g.
It was a tail sitter.
I had to cram about another 5g in the fuselage.
Thats without any weapons on it.
All the weapons are aft of the main wheels, the balance point.
I may have to put more lead into the cockpit after I attach the weapons.

Re: Fred's OV10, the same but not the same
Very nice work there Fred.
HMM. looks like I have some extra work to do fit wise and cockpit details wise. Still, anything added in front of the fulcrum point will assist is stopping tail sitting.
All the best.

Re: Fred's OV10, the same but not the same
Main bits together;
I've hollowed out the exhausts. The carpet monster got one of the elevator mass balance weights ~ it had to be the top one didn't it?
I got some light grey on the wings and underneath the booms and fuselage. 1st coat, it'll take maybe two more.
I cannot believe just how much lead this thing is taking. I thought I was going too much with 6g in each engine and in the fuselage nose.
I have lead crammed into the fuselage nose, a flat piece under the MiB's seat, a small pile under his i/p and on each side of the front cockpit, as well as in the fronts of the engines. So far that is just enough to balance it.
I reckon, 10 or 11g in the fuselage and 12g in the engines = 23g plus a w/m seat at about 3g = 26g, almost 1 ounce.

Looks worked on, that's for sure. I can see a masterpiece waiting to break out.
