Re: Marky's Whirlwind HAS.10
Hi, if Aeroventure has a HAS.10 then external shots would be helpful, mainly if there are any differences between it and the HAS.22 I'm converting it from. Thanks for the offer it would be helpful.Gregers wrote:Ah. I forgot. If there are any details etc you need photographing I can try and get down there.

That may be easier. Looking forward to watching yet another session of kit bashing from you.MarkyM607 wrote:

Re: Marky's Whirlwind HAS.10
I knew what I meant! . I've started bashing, the kit nose is off and the resin nose is ready. It's actually meant for the Italeri S-55 kit but I think it will fit this one, might need to reconstruct the fuselage around the bottom of the windshield though!.Molly-new wrote:That may be easier. Re: Marky's Whirlwind HAR.10
Okay, update time. Although I've destroyed the plastic curved bit under the windscreen the nose now fits well, and I hope to be able to replace the curved section.
Airwaves resin nose..
Dry fit!..
Cockpit and rear section (engine cladding?)..
The wording you can see is the Airfix copyright/date markings, says 1968 on it!!

Re: Marky's Whirlwind HAR.10
By the way, anyone know what colour the interior is/should be?. Not going to detail it, or fit an interior as there isn't one but would like to paint it and the cockpit none the less. I did take some pics of an RAF one at Waddington Air Show a few years ago, just got to remember where the disk I put them on is!!.

Re: Marky's Whirlwind HAR.10
Mark, the Mk22 had a straight tail the later marks the tail boom was lower to give more clearance between the rotors and the tail boom.
A better kit to use is the Italeri kit but it's very hard to find.
Have you seen this set of walk around images ? http://nabe3saviation.web.fc2.com/waWhw.html

Re: Marky's Whirlwind HAR.10
Thanks for that Splash, I agree the Italeri kit would be the one to use but I'm in a save money situation at the moment, hence using the Airfix kit!. It might not be 100% but it will have to play the part for now!. The photos are a great help, ta. The first Whirlwind is the one I saw at Waddington that year.

Re: Marky's Whirlwind HAR.10
To be fair I have just spent the day looking around the Helicopter Museum at Western Super Mare and found it difficult to spot the difference between the different tails on the Whirlwind's they had.
If you change the tail plane from the inverted V shape to horizontal type no one will spot the straight tail.
The Airfix kits not bad for its age, I wish Airfix would re-tool it as the Italari kit is getting very hard to find these days.

Re: Marky's Whirlwind HAR.10
A new Airfix Whirlwind would be great. Lots of nice colourful schemes to choose from. Italeri have priced themselves out of my range!

Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

Re: Marky's Whirlwind HAR.10
Is the horizontal tail HAR.10 specific and the HAS.22 (the kit version) inverted V?. Just checking as it won't be long before I put all of the little bits on, including the tail plane. Just checking as I haven't done as much research on the HAR.10 as I should have!!splash wrote:To be fair I have just spent the day looking around the Helicopter Museum at Western Super Mare and found it difficult to spot the difference between the different tails on the Whirlwind's they had.
