The yellow rescue livery is one of my favourite helicopter schemes. Nice work.

Yes, there is something appealing about it, especially after doing so many camo'd aircraft!. I've had to use decals from a Sea King so they are a tad oversize, hopefully I can sort that out sometime later. The black titles do stand out well against the yellow!.
Just the u/c and tail rotor to do.....
Hoping to return to modelling sometime this year!!

Thankfully I have both tail variants in the stash (there rather hot on ebay at the mo) so hopefully my path to a HAR10 will be easier than yours. I think my nose is by Airwaves. Keep at it!

That has really come together nicely. A bit late for this build but I have found that red is a good base colour for a yellow top coat as it adds depth to the colour.

Will do James, and you're a lucky chap!!. Still, I have enjoyed this, a bit of scratch building, some rebuilding. The kit's not too bad really, considering it says 1958 inside it!.
Molly- I knew there was a way of doing yellow but I couldn't think of it! , I'll keep it in mind if I get around to doing my yellow Sea King!. I have a picture taken on a beach, I think Yarmouth, of a yellow Wessex flying along the shoreline, quite close so that might be the next yellow chap!. I think it was in the eighties!.

Ta-Da!. I normally hate that phrase but hey, once in a while... Meanwhile the Whirlwind is considered finished!...

The tail rotor needs the middle bit painting silver but I am doing that now so this is done. Very much enjoyed this GB, thanks Greg!!.

Well done on an excellent conversation, you have shown us that there is still life left in one of Airfix's oldest kits.

Thanks chaps. I don't normally go for things in yellow but this works. Will have to drag out my yellow Airfix Sea King!!. She is an oldy this kit but it comes out well.

Very nice work. Having tried the same conversion myself (It's been sitting in a box part done for years) I know it isn't easy. Nice one Mark, well done.

All the best.

Very nice indeedy.
A good recovery on the yellow paint.

Personally I prefer gloss orange as undercoat for yellow.

PS; I spent a week hosing these down after rescue and exercise Ops over the North Sea. A Station in Yorkshire.. can't remember if it was Leeming or possibly Leconfield, ~ it was a very long time ago.

Thanks chaps, appreciate the kind words. Really did enjoy this despite the troubles, they were actually fairly easy to overcome and involved some actual model making!. I'll have to remember the orange undercoat idea for when I get my Sea King going, as that is yellow.
The paint still seems a bit thin but it's a lot smoother and better than it was a first!. Decided now that I need to do the original HAS.22 version but they're hard to find and a little pricey when you do (the cheapest I've seen is £16!).
P.S. the Whirlwind is standing out like the proverbial sore thumb on the helicopter shelf as everything else is camouflaged or darker colours! .

Not as a sore thumb but as a peacock ~ look at me all bright and shiney
And it'll soon have a mate with your Sea King.
