Back together
I added some thin plastic card at the horizontal stabiliser to fuselage join to disguise the full horror

I had to enlist help from Katie with the final decoration stage. She did the lettering and fine decoration.
Meanwhile I gave the undersides of the Beaufighter a coat of Vallejo Air Duck Egg Green

It was a CA glue bond, so it fractures easily with shear forces. Nothing else was damaged, so it went back together easilyGregers wrote:OUCH, not good. lucky it was a clean break down the joint though. Cool TARDIS btw. Still following with interest.

Nice fix with the Beaufighter, and cool looking cake. Is it bigger on the inside?

Re: Andrew's Beaufighter TF. X
Some upper colours on now. I used Vallejo Air Dark Sea Grey. They do an EDSG as well, but there's not much difference
Then a slightly lightened DSG just to break up the solid colour.
These aircraft would be pretty weathered in real life, so I'm not going for a pristine and tidy finish. Not that I ever get a pristine and tidy finish
I hope to get some primer on the undercarriage doors and flaps tonight.

Smashing paint job Andrew. I have recently started using Vallejo paints for spraying and am quite impressed with them.

Thanks Fred, I did find some photos of Torbeaus with no rocket rails, but not from the squadrons on the decal sheet.fredk wrote:Great work on those improvements.

The grey looks much better in natural light.
I messed up the demarcation lines on one of the cowlings, so a little respray will be in order.
The canopies are pretty thick, and are definitely candidates for replacement! I don't have the stamina to crash mould them though.
I may display the aircraft with no attached weapons. The torpedo is okay, but lacks a propeller, and the support brackets seem a little on the chunky side.

There seems to be an Intruder lurking.
The kit decals proved to be hopeless, they refused to lift off the sheet. I expected this, as they looked very dodgy.
I have added roundels and flashes from an Xtradecal sheet and a few stencils from an Aviaeology sheet.
The codes and serials have been printed onto decal paper, and sprayed with fixative. They need to dry thoroughly before I attempt to use them! Unfortunately we have a new ink formula in the printer, and it's not agreeing with the decal paper. The quality of the printing is not quite as good as it used to be.

The decal film is also curling up at every opportunity once it comes off the backing. That was a bit of a horror story!
